Would anyone have any info to show the wartime aircraft had Yellow cowl rings?

Most of these restored/replica aircraft show coloured rings

kit shows on paint chart same as box art, no yellow.
Curiously also omitted are the anti glare OD on the insides of the engines :hmmm

Don't trust the restored schemes, sometimes they'll add more that what was there. I would go with the antiglare with no yellow.

Apparently 'Sunday Punch' was purchased with donations of workers from Oak Ridge, Tennessee, this photo was no doubt taken prior to it being sent to an operational group. It does look like the cowlings may be another color but it is hard to tell. You can see the antiglare paint extending clear to the front of the cowl.

'Sunday Punch' was with the 82nd Bomb Squadron, 12th Bomb Group, search for those might bring up something useful.

I don't know Gary, look at the reflexion on the lhs cowl, down about 5 o'clock position. That look too highly shined to be painted over, even with a glossy finish.
