Here are some photos of a vignette I built in the 2000 - 2001 timeframe. It is of Soldiers from the 9th Infantry Division going through the chow line to receive some hot chow while out in the field. The unit has been out in the boonies for several day and a hot meal arrived on the resupply helicopter. One man from each position on the perimeter came back to the center to get a bite to eat. Once they are done, they will relieve their battle buddy and send them to get their meal consisting of fried chicken, corn on the cob, and mashed potatoes with gravy.
The figure with the full plate of food was scratch built over an armature made of resin blocks and brass rod. The details that I added were the c-ration spoon going through the pen slot in his right pocket, name tape, US Army Tape, CIB, and 9th Infantry Division and Specialist 4 patches. The boonie hat has the cord around the back of his head. His uniform is dirty and sweaty and his boots are scuffed up from extended periods of time in the field. The Soldier serving the chicken is a conversion of a Hobby Fan artilleryman. The other figures are conversions, but I don't remember what figures they were converted from. After all, it's been about ten years and alot has happened in those ten years. If you take note of the Mermite cans, you will see that the one with the chicken is just one open area. The one for the corn and potatoes has the individual inserts to separate the contents.
