I was just looking at the Jag in the 10 year anniversary build by ijoo1 and it reminded me of a day spent at RAF Coltishall a few years ago. RAF stations used to have flyin get togethers where aircraft would be invited and were met on the tarmac by the hosts, in this case the RAF jaguar Fleet then based at Coltishall, with cans of beer.
The Yanks turned up in a couple of n F15's, then based about 20 miles down the road, they probably could have taxied there but chose to fly
Can were duly left by the nose wheel on landing
The danish arrived in a couple of F16's
the French turned up in an ancient Mirage
The Brits were represented by what must havwe bee one of the last aperances of an ADV F3 Tornado which made some noise...as it ambled by...
Its big brother the Tornado GR4 was suitably loaded up for the occasion
and demonstrated its very fast stop by throwing out its reverse thrust buckets...Now you know why tornado's always had dirty tails
j
Parking was tight
Several hawks, Tornados, Harrier and Jaguar sqns sent reps
and Even an old Hurricane arrived...escorted in by Jags and a hawk
The RAF today no longer fly's the Tornado in F3 or GR4 form, No longer fly's Harriers or Jaguars, there are a few hawks left flying but we just operate Typhoons now and Lightnings (F35). :-(
