Greetings Aircraft People;

..... The F-117 is on it's way out.

The US Air Force's Press Group said that the F-117,
would be retired soon. No word on what they where
going to replace it with.

....... May-haps ......

The answer is no. What you have shown is an artist's concept of Aurora, the SR-71 replacement. This is a reconnaissance aircraft while the F-117 Ghost was a ground attack aircraft (disregard the F prefix added to throw people off). Have Blue, the project that led to the Ghost, was designed to do what it did in Panama then Desert Storm, go in undetected and destroy reactionary capabilities such as AA, communications, and so on. Stealth over speed was the order of the day then.

Back to the original question; yes, Trumpeter is releasing a 1/32nd scale kit for 2012. The following is from Stevens Hobby, one of Trumpeter's US distributors:

Trumpeter3219F-117.jpg

Kit 3219 1/32 F-117A Nighthawk Aircraft MSRP $164.95
NEW TOOLING! The F-117 Nighthawk was a single-seat, twin-engine stealth ground-attack aircraft formerly operated by the USAF. The F-117A's first flight was in 1981, and it was acknowledged and revealed to the world in November 1988. It was commonly called the "Stealth Fighter" although it was a ground-attack aircraft, making its F-designation misleading. The Air Force retired the F-117 in April 2008, primarily due to the fielding of the F-22 Raptor and the impending introduction of the F-35 Lightning II.

Kit consists of over 290 parts on 11 sprues plus fuselage, rubber tires, positionable wing flaps, numerous loads, detailed engines, cockpit and gear compartment, metal landing struts and a photo-etched air duct grill. Completed kit measures over 21” long with a wingspan of over 16”.

I should add that a few F-117s are kept flying, several are Hangar Queens used for spares, over at Tonopah... about 80 miles from Area 51. Testing equipment's capabilities for sure.

Regards,

Very interesting aircraft. Thanks for info Saul!

(off topic)

All the best!

lucky enough to see one of those at an air show in MB back in 91- when it left the show it headed north over the beach front at about 200 feet and maybe that fast, went right by my house! We were out front having a beer and baking in the sun when it went past- saw it twice that day! Awesome bonus lol...
