Dad's old sign kit

My dad gave me his old sign kit when I was college many moons ago. Back then it was covered with a vinyl material that had seen it's better days. This box is probably close to 50 years old. It has had many uses for me over the years, artbox, "modern" sign kit for vinyl lettering and tool box at one time. It now serves as my travel box for my model building supplies. I got to looking at it the other day and thought that it needed something. It does pay homage to Dad and to good old fashioned hand lettering, so I thought I would find some vintage logos, that makes me feel old, and made some waterslide decals. Dad used Langnickel brushes almost exclusively by talked about Mack brushes. His go to paint was Ronan, which is older that 1 Shot, but we had some 1 shot in the shop too. After the decals set, I'll clearcoat the box and weather the decals.

Very cool, I have one of Cindy's grand dads' tool box from when he was in the mill. Painted that same sickly green color they painted everything in and smells of linseed oil. Heavy as HELL! I bet it's just sat there and soaked up that oil over the years. I told her nephew he should take it but he doesn't seem to be interested in that sort of stuff.
