The original Dakota III FZ692 "Kwicherbichen" (the RAF BBMF has their Dak painted in these markings) arrived in Hamilton this afternoon to join the CWHM stable. She was delivered in Feb 44 and served with 233 Sqn RAF dropping paras on Jun 05/06 and performing supply and casualty evac flights into the front line air fields. She transferred to 437 Sqn RCAF in Sep 44, serving with the RCAF/CAF as 12945 until 1973. She was briefly on the US civil register before returning to work for the Canadian Dept of Energy, Mines & Resources and recently retired from Environment Canada equipped with laser, ultraviolet and infrared systems to locate and track fuel and oil spills.

CWHM likes to keep them flying if they can. This is their second Dak so it will interesting to see what markings it will get.

On a side note, they are flying their Lancaster to the UK in August and will be touring for the month. There are several scheduled appearances with the BBMF and their Lancaster.

Cheers,
Rich
