    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Yep, we use to go to the Army Navy store on the square in town to get our Scouting gear. All the war surplus stuff in there, I'd ride my bike up there, the old Hobby and Garden Center was right down the road so it was a good trip.

The mid wing fuselage mating is a bit questionable, I trimmed down some of the mating surfaces but couldn't see where the rub was coming from. I'll wick some CA in the joint to seal it up. Maybe it's by design. and this is the reason I pressed on, lower wing fits fine and the strut alignment...

AK G3 paints either uses their branded thinner or not? :frantic: I'm loading up whatever squirts and going with it. I like the chocolate color one because the guys who wrote about flying those crates kelp using that term.

You use super glue instead of a solvent based glue? There's some thinners that could help the oils cure out. Now you see why I've been fitting and fitting again on the DR1. I had to abandon the Junker J1 because of some early issue I didn't figure out.

It's out of square some where? Looks like from here the engine bearing section of the frame is a separate assembly than the cockpit area. Maybe separate them and fit the engine and frame assembly to the closed up fuselage? I haven't seen the instructions on this so I'm just making it up. Or...

Paddy the only thing I would worry about here is if you have any of your rigging hardware on the outside of the frame. Tolerance can be unforgiving on these kits. It looks great, yeah we spend a lot of time inside that doesn't get seen.

I've got clear coat again and then the stickers. When I flat coat I'm going to try and clean up what looks like a finger print...it doesn't really show in person but the camera picks it up. I'm going to blend in some red around the insignia like what the reference photo shows. Let this...
