    Tamiya Spitfire Mk IX (1/32)

Oil paint weathering with a very minimal amount on the brush(almost nothing comes off on a rag) would work a treat to get that effect. Bur't sienna or burnt umber would be my color choice.

They give you some short metal rods that you put in the paint bottle and it spins them. I also use the metal ball bearings sold by AK and these also work well, as you can give them a quick shake before placing it on.

Hey Saul, I got one of these Dispai magnetic mixers a few years ago and love it. I use it nearly every day or whenever I am painting a model. This and the Greenstuff mixer are stopping me getting 'tennis elbow' from manually shaking paint bottles all day long!

    The latest Something I 've been doing.........5 x WW1 Armoured cars - progress 12th March 2026 - Romfell WEATHERING

Accidents are always good. I accidently spilt my track wash on the front right side panel and thought it was a redo. Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Wow, thanks James. I just went to thier site and now I am fighting buying the Abatross float plane that they have done in 1/32, as I have always loved it. The 1/32 Caprioni looks good as well but I don't know if I have enough decades left to build it!

Thanks Paul, really just a very dirty experiment ;) Thanks Bob, It's always a dilemma with weathering in closed engine bays and underneath vehicles but this one has some 'viewable' underbody detail from the side because it hangs down. I also end-up doing it to combine what's necessary, with...

Some more progress on the Rolls......... I have nearly finished the mud underneath, just need to add some more contrast with darker corners and lighter highlights, then on to the side stuff. Themud underneath worked well to cover the punch marks too. :good: Chipping, scratches and intial dark...
