    Fiat Mephistopheles (take 2)......

Bit of perseverance today i got the Proxxon indexing head to mount on the Innocraftsman mini drill. there is a major design problem here, the depth from support post to the chuck is too small. what is called the "throat". Even using the std vice on the combination mount (X-Y) you cant get the...

Engine held in place with cocktail sticks 🤣 I think i can improve on this method of fixing later on. In keeping with the bling theme i have gone for a white base for the brass with makes it a lot brighter than the usual black base

    Airfix Fairey Gannet 1/48th

Lovely job Nick , agree their are some fantastic Airfix kits now since Hornby took over, There is a Gannet in a field down the road from me at Gatwick :-) I rather like them, very purposeful from the days when aircraft were designed to do a specific job unlike today where everything is multi...

NOVO 1/72 Gloster Whittle E28/39 Pioneer

Ah i said cross roads as i didnt think you had roundabouts but its a roundabout really which is basically the same as a circus, This is in a town called Farnborourgh which was the UK,s (and still is ) aero research centre, or Royal aicraft establishment , its where the wind tunnels and so on...

    Fiat Mephistopheles (take 2)......

I added an alloy intake to my air filter box but something is not right about this whole thing. It looks big on the panel but the car is big.. I thought it might look better as an all alloy extra riveted on but the louvers underneath are in the way to get it level with the bottom edge of the...

Sometimes modelling what you want is a lot more fun than just buying it :). I remember one time someone said to me, you can buy much better aircraft pictures in a magazine than you can take yourself and they are cheaper so why bother ?..... difficult to know what to say to that 🤣

    Fiat Mephistopheles (take 2)......

In keeping with wanting to keep this build as far away from the original as i can, i have gone with chrome spokes. This is MRP chrome paint so its really a shinny silver but its dry and durable same day. tyres are just MRP rubber Black I put the pocher lights in the barrelling machine over...

    Fiat Mephistopheles (take 2)......

Thanks The chrome is Molotow pen refile which is a chrome sharpie . its not cheap but lasts years even if you build chrome heavy cars and bikes like me. You can just add a few drips to the airbrush or more as needed and it sprays nicely straight from the bottle. It dry's in 15 mins but...

ha ha yes it has a rev limiter that cuts in at 156 mph.. No this is basic, so first thing will be to wash the air filter out in the cold air induction.

Slightly off topic My sleeper Audi Best times yet this weekend There are 2x 0-60 mph figures, the bottom one is disregarding the first 1 foot of movement as this is basically the clutch take up time and is the industry std way of recording 0-60 mph. BMW in particular have appaling clutch...

    Fiat Mephistopheles (take 2)......

Hi Paul i used a cylindrical felt pad and some ultra fine Tamiya polishing paste on about 200rpm. My "experiments" showed on alloy that you really need to polish the pattern on rather than scratch it on, I did try one of those Dremel style paint brush, wire brushes with bristles cut right back...

    Fiat Mephistopheles (take 2)......

A can of Coke later :-) and i have some 5 thou sheet alloy :- ) Its not a very accurate way of doing things but it sort of worked having cut the panel out of coke can. It actually looks better than the picture because the effect is constantly changing as you move the panel and the camera...

also been playing around with the dash In the original pictures it looks like it was engine turned. I cant reproduce that on plastic but its possible on alloy but needs a lot of setting up and its very easy to go wrong. #I tried 0.025" sheet but i dont really have a way of cutting this without...
