Ant, Rany, Borat, Glenn, Rudi, Peter, Scott, MG, Bob, Ian, Jenny, Andre, thankyou one and all for having a peep. Scott, the tank is to be placed more or less centrally facing down the slope facing the right front of the base. Andre, the grass in all from Heki, and is a variety of colours of...

    DML Late Nashorn

Hey Mike I see your talents aren't limited to Shermans mate :) This looks beaut; there is so much to look at with the open fighting compartment chock-full of Germans, and the blend between base and AFV is subtle enough to not be too obvious... Good stuff Brad :side:

    Groundwork Class with Anthony Reeves

Interesting techinique Ant... When I saw the glove a green oozy paint about to be applied, I was all "OH #$@* NO!!" but the ensuing method has resulted in some nice tones and set me at ease ;) . Good stuff... Brad :side:

    Down and dirty diorama

Thanks Scott Good to hear from you! Yep, the wood filler putty works a treat, and can have the consistency of P of P with extra water, or be like a McFlurry with less... The good thing is the option of when to 'work' the filler. Here I have waited until it had firmed a little more, and with...

    Down and dirty diorama

Hey thanks for all the positive feedback Ian/Tim/Ant/Bob/Kenneth/Shawn... Have mushed on a bit and added grasses selectively placed. I am about to pour some tinted resin puddles. Once down, I figure I can backtrack the puddle colour to apply to some of the surrounding mud. Wish me luck :ohmy...

    Staghound in Normandy

Hey bucko That looks terrific! The AFV itself is bonzer, but the colours you have developed in the 'shrubbery' adds a cool visual element. The backdrop tricks the eye well for depth in that last pic especially... Good stuff Brad :side:

    1:35 sculpt in progress

Andy, thankyou and at a pinch the measurements are as follows, based on a 51-52mm figure, head to sole. From hip bone to boot sole I'd go approx. 28-29mm. From groin to top of head it would be roughly the same 28mm. Bear in mind the overlap of both measurements by about 4-5mm Now the arms...

    1:35 sculpt in progress

Thanks Fomare, Glenn, Shawn, and even Rudi  He has not progressed much further as have been working late a few times this week, and also have a muddy diorama scene in the makings. I have added some Polaroid goggles to his helmet, which are an often seen item on armored infantrymen. I...

    Dutch Grenadiers Guard drummer

Giovanni that is looking superb! I like the fact with historical miniatures one can go crazy with the lack of camouflage present back then huh! To be able to use such a variety of bold colours on clothing no less would be a challenge methinks. He appears well sculpted; but one thing keeps...

    Down and dirty diorama

I hit the surface with some further acrylic raw umber, attempting to get in n under to coat the whole surface. Two or three coats later, it is practically covered. I use a basic cheapo brush, as it really does get squashed when pressing in to the mud surface. It is pretty hard to see the slope...

    Down and dirty diorama

:) In the words of Karen and Richard, "We've only just begun"... Some shots of the second layer; the dancefloor. A lot darker brown. The above method was replicated to match the original drawing as close as possible. Once this had dried for a while, a new mix was added to form the thrown...

    Down and dirty diorama

Here is the base with the first layer added. The colour really matters not, so long as there is no bright white showing such as if you used P of P instead of a more neutral wood filler. The top layer gets more browning during the mixing... Now, there is a high side to scene which requires...
