    Glencoe 1/330 K-type Blimp

Everybody needs a blimp, right? This is an old chestnut first released by ITC in 1957. The fit really wasn't that bad but needing a silver finish added to the work. I built it in between other builds during the latter part of the year and did the final touches this week. The base is just a...

    Tamiya Birdcage Corsair

Pup, I'm 99% sure that photo is of a two color early war scheme, even though the blue is pretty dark for a early blue grey. Perhaps the blue grey has been over sprayed but it doesn't look like dark sea blue or the non specular dark blue. The oil canning is a result of the way the Corsair was...

    Hasegawa 1/48 F-86F-30

I think it's a composite antenna cover, Chris. Whatever, its gotta be light grey!

    Hasegawa 1/48 F-86F-30

All done, ready to go. I skipped the final flat coat as I was happy with just a light coat of Alclad Aqua Gloss.

Thanks Bob. I went and covered it with graffiti today.

    Testors 1/48 U-2C as a U-2F

Here's the finished pictures with some fun in-flight shots. Cloned out a brass tube that fit in the tailpipe. No prop to spin on this one, more's the pity.

    Hasegawa 1/48 F-86F-30

I think I'm done with the masking and painting, now it's just down to the decals. The gun ports were not present of the RF-86's, but to fool the enemy they were painted on. I puzzled for a while on how to do that, and then decided to use a pencil. I cut masks for the outlines and ran a pencil...

    Hasegawa 1/48 F-86F-30

Thanks, Bob and Steve. It's starting to look like an F-86 now.

    Testors 1/48 U-2C as a U-2F

Chris, so far nothing has been launched off the bench but care is necessary! Thanks, Bob. The drilling went well, there is a steel pin adding some strength. Just needs a semi-gloss overcoat now.

    Hasegawa 1/48 F-86F-30

Got the buzz number on the tail and the greyish color on the wing inner panels now. Next is the USAF on the wings which had to follow the grey areas.

    Hasegawa 1/48 F-86F-30

Bet black ever, Chris. Coverage with just a whisper of paint and just the right gloss. Only have a little left.

    32 Tamiya Birdcage

The most likely scenario would be a pilot about to make an unintentional gear up landing, Paul. But maybe it's just some guy out practicing. Most any modern airplane of any size would have a loud horn blowing in the pilots ear, but I doubt a Corsair would have that.

    Testors 1/48 U-2C as a U-2F

The U-2 is progressing, if slowly. The markings here have all been painted, only the stars and bars and the small decals around the cockpit, and a few stencils will be used. Annoyingly the right stabilizer has decided to take a short holiday, looks like some drilling and pinning is in my future.

    Hasegawa 1/48 F-86F-30

The Alclad ALC 101 has been applied over a Mr. Surfacer 1500 black primer. Serious damage was done to the masking supplies in setting up to paint the theater stripes, in this photo the black stripes have been painted using Model Master Black Chrome and then have been masked off. After this...

    32 Tamiya Birdcage

Paul, it's hard to think of a situation where you would be full flaps and gear up, but I suppose it could happen. Thanks for the heads up about the wing fit.

    A pair of desert snakes

The added details make a big difference, Gary. I can never warm up to the angular canopy of the S, the G was so clean looking. When the Cobra was new one came to a show at our guard unit and put on a display. Definitely a new generation from our CH-37's.
