Another TRIP IN AUSTRALIA -Tasmania July/ August 2025 Part 6 The End

Part 5a - Way down south - getting closer to Antartica. ..... next we left Lewisham and ventured to Opossum Bay and then back up and around to the historic Port Arthur convict prison. We went on a night Ghost Tour of the old prison and grounds (which was a lot of fun)that night and then headed...

    9th Infantry Division Grunt Bust

So True James, I find the same thing with the Russian tanks and the Next Gen Acrylics from Ammo and AK. Ultra Matt works really well to get that 'tooth' with a nice matt surface.

    M3 Lee Lulubelle

I think it comes down to the detail in the sculpting. I have found that with Tamiya v Dragon etc. Especially with faces and clothing detail - it needs to be 3D but not to much.

    I'm going Japanese

Looks nice MP, I hear what you are saying about the sand texture...always difficult to keep after glue. The solution is real sand secured with white glue 15%/ water 85% solution. Sprinkle a little on top and in amongst the wheels if you want to go that bit further:good:

    MODERN RUSSIAN ARMOUR - T-72BA [B 1990 model] in UKRAINE (update 25th Nov 2025)

Well, in texture anyway. I still need to add some silver to the track teeth etc and blacken the rubber side sheets. I also will airbrush some browns lightly in the lower areas and wheels and work them up a bit more after the green layers. This painting approach will be quite different but I am...

    MODERN RUSSIAN ARMOUR - T-72BA [B 1990 model] in UKRAINE (update 25th Nov 2025)

Time to paint. I am going to experiment a bit with this one, as I want a faded dark green like in the photo below. Normally I would start with a solid dark green and move up from there with varying shades and components singled out with certain shades of the green colors. This time I will only...

1/700 MV Wild Goose. John Wayne's Yacht '62-'79. TLAR #124

Another beauty Chris - very nice! ....and the John Wayne story was cool as well, as he was a hero of mine when I was a 'youngin'. I never new he had a giant boat like this converted from a minesweeper but I am not surprised. :capsmiley:

GOOGLE MEET FOR MODELER'S ALLIANCE? Who is in?

Thanks for the consideration MP. I am not a get up early guy so midnight for me works OK. I would obviously be just as happy with 11.00am or 12.00 midday but I don't know how brutal that is for the others - that would be ideal for me but i am in a minority and would rather fit in with the majority.

    MODERN RUSSIAN ARMOUR - T-72BA [B 1990 model] in UKRAINE (update 25th Nov 2025)

Sounds like the right approach - finish before you start :) not always easy. Also forgot to add that some people go for the curved foam bases like Verlinden introduced back in the day.

MODERN RUSSIAN ARMOUR - T-72B1 in Ukraine April 2022 (25th Dec update)

This 'bricked -up' toughie is already started and coming soon to a channel near you ........:dude: I searched out as many shots of this tank as I could find - some have been taken at different times if you look at the slogans painted on the barrel and the side rubber sheet hanging out with...

    MODERN RUSSIAN ARMOUR - T-72BA [B 1990 model] in UKRAINE (update 25th Nov 2025)

I will photograph my construction process as best I can but you make a good point. Bases are all different and different displays require varying approaches, such as larger dioramas than this with a bit more story, are more suited to a base like John's Tiger 1 Russian scene, that looks more...

    MODERN RUSSIAN ARMOUR - T-72BA [B 1990 model] in UKRAINE (update 25th Nov 2025)

Ok, some new progress on the BA - I decided to create a vehicle using a mix of the details from both tanks shown at the start of this post. This would also mean that I could use the travel tanks on the rear which I hadn't modelled on the T-72B3M. Tracks finished Mud added - guards on. Brass/ PE...

Wreaking Havoc 1: A-20B-DL 41-3266(?) Outhouse Mouse with a Sharkmouth

I just finished watching a U-Tube video on the guy who created the B-25 Gunship /strafer while flying Havocs out of Darwin. Really interesting, as he initially loaded up his Havoc with 50 cal,s, as the .30 couldn't penetrate the armour on the Jap ship hulls. The 50's made the Havoc nose heavy...
