Panzer III Ausf J. Das Werks, 1/16 scale.

The main problem with thinning an acrylic with water, whether in an airbrush or on a canvas using a brush brush, is you are dilluting the linking molecules that bind the paint molecules to each other and to the surface. Also, water does not release the paint as well as a medium that contains a...

Surprisingly I did better than I hoped with the first pass. You can see the carving tools I used to whittle down most of it. Then roughed up and reshaped the surface for the next layer.

Well, I bondo'd (Tamiya polyester puttied) the crap out of it. Now to see if I can salvage it!

Thanks Paul. And, I had thought of the nosegear and fortunately there is a nice opening to add weights!

What is the Marine motto? "Improvise, overcome, adapt"? That is what I am doing here I guess. I got the wheel bay in but the cockpit floor is too wide to let the opening close far enough so there is some work to be done to camo that edge I tried glue and clamping the daylights out of it But it...

Thanks Paul. I am performing a little plastic surgery. I am paring down the height of the bay. It should give me nearly an eighth.

Man, the fit of this thing; I have really never dealt with this. The front wheel bay is not fitting at all. The rear section has to go down 1/8" and there is just not that muck material there. I may have to take the 3D printed part off anf trim the edges so it sits inside the walls instead of on...

A little oil weathering. Once it dries a bit I will lift some off. The 3D printed part worked out great!

The cockpit has formed up well and fairly easily. The PE parts are top notch and look fantastic. I need to "glass" the bezels and weather a little now. I tried to make little switches by drilling holes with a #80 bit and using .010 wire. Once the glue cures I will try snipping them shorter.I...

    Possibly my new obsession...

My father in law had a '48 model. He had taken the battery out to use in something else and finches nested in the battery compartment. I did a painting of it...

Well, I think my question "Can you tell the difference between 12k and 16k?" and the answer is "Yes". This piece is as small as my index fingernail. 14.9mm x 15.2mm x 2.15mm

So, I revised the part, but to accomodate the depth I had to make the part .7ml thicker than before which means the cockpit base will possibly have to be trimmed a little, or not. The pieces are printing now.

I did see one version with teeth and thought of you Saul @Sharkmouth and also thought it would be a cool version!

Hmm, I didn't think about that. I am not sure of the radius and width of the tire. If you have those specs I can be more accurate and exact. I can make the tire, then enlarge it somewhat and use that to make the indention.

Thank you Saul! My goodness, you have everything. Here is the Blender image of the part I have made. I have my printer set up but my resin is at home and I am at the store at the moment, so tomorrow I will print four of these. These are the walkaround images I found in case anyone is interested:

The "C61" part IS on the sprue but looks nothing like the drawing, and is X'd out on the sprue drawings as "not used". There is a little drawing on the instructions that says to make the part and thin as shown. Really? I have created the part in Blender and will see if I can get one of the...

Thanks guys! Ok, so I dismantled the disaster of the front wheel well. The problem is that there are no register tabs of any kind and everything is butt joined and there is NO way to know if you have it right. I took Paul's advice and dry fitted with tape to see how things should be assembled so...
