First diorama: 1/72 B-25 bomb loading

The print lines are visible mostly on the rear wheel arches, but they're not too bad. I'd be more concerned if the GTB was the main object of the diorama. I'll probably go with it as is. My main problem with the GTB is fixing the damage I inflicted cutting it from the print sprues, then not...

First diorama: 1/72 B-25 bomb loading

I got it here. https://www.super-hobby.com/products/Ford-GTB-4x4-Burma-Bomb-Service-Truck-1-49926798.html In fact, I'm pretty sure it was somebody here who pointed me to this website. It came with the outer wheels printed separately from the vehicle. Even though that particular photo shows...

First diorama: 1/72 B-25 bomb loading

Hello guys, This is going to be my first-ever diorama, so I'm keeping it super-simple. The idea came from the a photo of P-38s about to be loaded, courtesy of worldwarphotos.info. The Burma and the bomb carts are Military Scales 3D prints. I'd like to throw some .50 cal ammo cans into the Ford...

    Zvezda 1/72 Yak-3

I got to a point where I saw the finish line and couldn't stop!

    Zvezda 1/72 Yak-3

Done! I did the exhaust stains with Vallejo Tire Black with a touch of straight black. It was another first, free-handing that with an airbrush. Trigger control was really touchy and it got away from me a couple times. I'm using a Badger 150; are other models and brands any easier? I took the...

I heard it try to mumble something, that's why the masks are still on.

I wish I could tell you exactly how! I'm not very scientific when it comes to thinner/paint ratios. I add one or the other until the viscosity looks right, with a couple drops of flow improver. I always run PSI somewhere between 15 and 20 PSI.

    Zvezda 1/72 Yak-3

Got around to painting today. This is my first time airbrush free-handing one. The scale made it more challenging and there was definitely some learning going on. I meant for the dark grey to be a little darker, but since it's not meant as a "serious" project I'll just go with it. Both the...

What, no songs? Yakety-yak, don't talk back? Yakety-axe (Chet Atkins & Mark Knopfler) I've built three other Zvezda kits and they've all had good fit and detail. Their 1/48 MI-24 was particularly good. The only issue was a kit of the Varyag where there was a short shot and not all the lifeboats...

    Zvezda 1/72 Yak-3

Thanks. But of course, I had to un-simplify the project just a little. I decided to saw open the somewhat over-thick canopy so the cockpit details would be visible. Now I think I'll have to thin down the moving part of the canopy so it fits properly over the rear canopy. I'm not sure exactly how...

    Zvezda 1/72 Yak-3

Ok, mostly out of the box. I couldn't stop myself from adding leftover belts from the B-25. The pitot tube is going to have to be replaced too. It's fun to have a simple model when I can have the wings on so quickly.

    Zvezda 1/72 Yak-3

I picked this one up in Russia a few years ago, pre-Ukraine war. I think it was around $10. I didn't even notice it was a snap-tite model until I dusted it off yesterday. After the somewhat involved Eduard B-25, this one will be a fairly low-effort and simple build, straight out of the box. I'll...

    Eduard 1/72 B-25

Thanks! I plan to do multi-engines in 1/72 and fighters in 1/48. It's a matter of workbench and shelf space more than anything else. Not sure in what scale I'm going to do a P-38 🤔.

    Eduard 1/72 B-25

Thanks! I agree that generally exhaust doesn't get on top of the wings, but it seems the B-25J is an exception, because of the exhaust stacks spaced all around the cowling. What I'm missing, though, is that exhaust stains on allied aircraft usually had a streak of light grey. I think this was...

    Eduard 1/72 B-25

Complete! The most challenging part was the tiny photoetch antennas. That was really pushing the capability of my eyesight and finger dexterity. I did the weathering with Vallejo black wash. The hard part is making it look like exhaust and not dirty water stains. I'm reasonably happy with it...

    Eduard 1/72 B-25

Another mistake! But also a fix. I managed to lose the nose gear door somehow. It was way too thick and had no detail so it wasn't much of a loss. I improvised with a bit of the photoetch sprue.

    Eduard 1/72 B-25

I'm using Vallejo primer and I clean the surface beforehand with alcohol. It might be that I need to give it more time to dry. Otherwise I think acrylics are just inherently less durable than enamels.
