First diorama: 1/72 B-25 bomb loading

Right, so here it is gents. The frame could use another round of stain/sand and I'm waiting for some ammo cans to arrive (if they do 🙏) to throw onto the Ford but overall I'm calling it done.

    Hasegawa 1/72 F9F Panther

No ejection seat, certainly not a zero-zero seat. There's a video somewhere of a Brit jet that rolled off the deck and the pilot couldn't get out, couldn't get his canopy open. It's even crazier to think of landing on an axial flight deck, especially in a jet. Angled decks seem like one of those...

    Hasegawa 1/72 F9F Panther

That could definitely work. Just don't tell anybody I put a Panther on an escort carrier 🤫.

    Hasegawa 1/72 F9F Panther

I haven't sat and watched it in a long time but there's a cut of just the aviation scenes on YouTube that I keep going back to. However, it's not to be overlooked that Grace Kelly is in the movie.

    Hasegawa 1/72 F9F Panther

I'm doing this one as part of a group build. Also it will help me pass some time while I wait for a couple detail pieces to arrive for my B-25 diorama. The kit is so-so. The cockpit is a bit simplistic and there's a hump behind the pilot's seat that's not there on the aircraft, so I've already...

"I'm only going to buy kits one at a time as I build them.... I swear"

Helicopter pilot. I'm here doing instruction. I used to love KFC and Popeye's but now fast food in general usually leaves me feeling like crap.

I chose Abu Dhabi. It can definitely get expensive if you're not disciplined. I knew guys who got into fancy watches and super-nice apartments, stuff like that. You can also live a lot more frugally and still be comfortable here. The hobby shop is Otaku ME. You can find it on Google Maps with...

Yes, Abu Dhabi. I'm earning back my gas money. Great tip about the alcohol, thanks!

First diorama: 1/72 B-25 bomb loading

I had a surprising amount of fun on this thing for a little 3D print. I used toilet paper and thinned white glue for the top. It's a little more textured than I'd like but I'll go with it. I managed to snap off the pulley chains and the cable hook but I'll replace those. I'm also going to go out...

Saudi Arabia, if it works out. Trouble is I think they have even fewer hobby shops than the UAE. Getting paints could be an issue. Is that ship with the French flag the Calypso? That's on my Holy Grail list of models. I loved Cousteau's documentaries when I was a kid. My Dad talked a lot about...

The F9F, for the group build. I'm holding off on the Catalina, first because I might be moving soon and that will be harder to keep intact, and second because I'm thinking about putting it in "water". I've been playing around with epoxy resin to that end. I want to do the ships that way too.

"I'm only going to buy kits one at a time as I build them.... I swear"

Yeah, that's what I said to myself when I got back into the hobby. I even kept to it for a long while. A couple weeks ago I had ONE kit. An impulse buy at the only decent hobby shop in Dubai, then another impulse buy online, then okay, I'll take part in the group build... I bring it up here...

First diorama: 1/72 B-25 bomb loading

I'd love to do one with PSP sometime. I'm thinking a Mini-Art P-47, European Theater.

First diorama: 1/72 B-25 bomb loading

I laid down the base last night. I used all-purpose filler mixed with sifted beach sand for texture and a bit of artist's acrylic for color. It's slow drying--in fact, it's still drying--so it gives lots of time to work but it tends to stick to tools. I didn't mean to have such deep ruts, but at...

Some great ideas there gents, thanks!

First diorama: 1/72 B-25 bomb loading

Today I fixed the damage I inflicted on the GTB. I'm wondering if I can roll out Milliput thin enough to make the canvas top.

Thank you! The cart came as almost one piece. The wheels are printed apart, but they're pretty easy to assemble.

I'm impressed by the GTB pulling that bomb train. That is a LOT of weight.

    Yes, that's the company.

First diorama: 1/72 B-25 bomb loading

Yes, I do. The detail that actually glares at me most is the cable on the crane. Replacing it with something that looks like an actual cable might be past my abilities.
