Italeri Fiat 806 GP racer 1:12

I found the original one in the picture above is marked Bosch so that cant be right. then i found this which is nearer and what i based mine on this is a MAGNETI MARELLI which is correct for a Fiat

these are looking more like the real thing now. Next problem is the mounting bracket which also supports the steering column its hard to find a picture of a Fiat 506 let alone a particular bracket but its pretty obvious the kit part is wrong, i cant go any further with the mags till i can work...

Italeri Fiat 806 GP racer 1:12

As usual i am in a state of disarray with this build as i flit from part to part and plans change by the hour. How i would love to just follow some instructions and see some progress at the end of an evening sometimes. :-) You can see at the bottom the plug leads are rubber and so is half of...

    Royal Army....what's that then ?

Hollywood has always had free rein to re write history , U-571 was a classic 😂 Who thought that up ? More recently we have more and more coloured people in classic British historical events like Little John in Robin hood ????? How long before Zulus are portrayed as white for the inclusivity...

Found a bit of WWII history on our property.

There is a demand here from people who have restored their jeeps and want to add to the overall effect. Quite a demand here for military restorations still. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1398455407119620/posts/2801076030190877/

    Royal Army....what's that then ?

I have been watching what i think is a US TV show called Turn ? Set in the war of independence they keep referring to the British army (red coats) as the Royal Army. This mystifies me because the Army has never been the Royal army unlike the Royal Navy and the Royal Airforce . The army dates...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

I have to say that the programming is what stopped me with CNC, it was being introduced at work as i retired but from my point of view it took away the skill of being a machinist and relaced with the skill of a programmer. A bit like a motor mechanic being confronted with am electric car :) i...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

ha ha dont ask me what i will do with this lot, the Lathe arrived today as well. I dont have plans but as you say, it allows you to plan and expand your horizons. TBH i will get my moneys worth just by looking at them :) Finally, i haven't won the lottery or struck oil, this is just my...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

It has a detachable base plate that is 6cm x 6cm with numerus M4 tapped holes, again note this is very small and will only be of use for model and watch making, its also really designed to fit the mini drill press above. it fascinates me as a life long professional tool maker but will...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

So this is the XYZR Axis Precision Fine Tuning Cross Slide. If you want to micro precision position something this is the answer. probably a little over kill for what i need but i wanted to future proof myself and not need to upgrade in the future. A couple of points if you go down this road...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Yes i looked at that but i dont think i need to drill to that sort of depth accuracy , i am waiting on 4 way adjustable vice with indexing and a lathe So i will update soon ;-), i will also get a dial gauge on the chuck spindle and check free play on the drill

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Todays act of self indulgence saw the arrival of a hole drilling device know as a "drill" Obviously its way to nice use so will find a place in my display cabinet soon Seriously its variable speed and the black box power supply seems to boost the torque significantly at very slow speeds...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

A bit of self indulgence here but this is quite rare now and i have never had an original Protar model. its streets ahead of later Italeri copies although they never did copy this model so its Protar or nothing. Spokes in the wheels are almost the right thickness and the frame and other parts...

Italeri Fiat 806 GP racer 1:12

This is about as far as i can go with the cockpit. Parts are balanced in position here as i need the floor on the Chassis to work out positioning as these parts are obviously taller and the body curves in at the top. I am sure it will be fine but it would be daft to go ahead and fix and find...

Italeri Fiat 806 GP racer 1:12

I have been a bit daft. I should have made the floor from wood rather than covering plastic as i think i will do this as a cutaway model which means you will se the under side of the floor as well. Oh well too late now :)

    One Down One to Go

Imgur web site is not visible anymore in the Uk VPN is a pain. Not sure what is going on but i cant use it on sites in the Uk because the sites all think i am over seas as i have it set on Canada which is great if you bank in Canada or want the news for Canada :-) but its a pain here as even...

Ha... the smaller one is the oil tank but the larger is just labelled reservoir, it can only be fuel. Wine is via a tube on the dash :-)

On another thread i pointed out the difference between the kit "floor" and the floor scratch built by another French guy using the engineering drawings. I thought i would try and tackle this first. Obviously i dont have the drawings so i can only go on the other guys build pictures (this is...
