The castor oil isn't from the valve train, Chris. It is slung out of the exhaust ports on the cylinders. That's why you never see a rotary without a cowling, it's the only thing redirecting the mess downward.

Thanks for the comments and interest, troops! Fuselage is together with only some small gaps aft of the radiator outlet. Hopefully I am over the hump on this one now.

Wing Nut Wings used to sell a thread that was a pretty good simulation for the streamline wires, I used that on my DH-9A. It is still probably available from whoever they got it from. I don't know if there is a trade name on the spool I have.
