Region 12 IPMS The Forbidden Contest 2.5 Show

September 20 not good for us, as we'll be toe deep in the white sand of Clearwater North Beach. Sipping margaritas.

A little progress. The tracks are finally done. I modified the section of extra tracks that will be carried on the hull by drilling out the molded pins on the two end links.

Ok, looks like mine will use 92 links per side with a bit of sag. I struggled with exactly what position to glue the torsion arms to the guides. I ended up looking at pics of some examples in museums to get an acceptable stance. I marked the slightly modified "last" link in pencil so I can...

Yep I learned the hard way about not using water as a thinner. I use Vallejo's thinner and flow improver.

I just think about all the other things I could be doing 😆 I might put the M3 on my Christmas list.

With four sprue attachments to each link and a bit of injection parting seam to sand out building the tracks is slow going.

I realized I put the decimal in the wrong place for the Iwata needle size. It's .35 not 3.5. I'm not sure what my beloved (RIP) Thayer & Chandler had, but I think it was a .2.

They are big and can soak up a lot of glue and paint.

    Possibly my new obsession...

I had a 74 with an automatic transmission, which broke. A 72 Super Beetle. The heater channels were completely rusted out so I wore a snowmobile suit driving it in winter. A 71 bus. The gear shift lever pin was missing but learned to find the gears anyway. It didn't have any passenger bench...

Very taught looking rigging. Like you could almost play a little ditty.

I'm using an Iwata HPCS with the standard 3.5 needle. It does well with the Vallejo, once I figured out how it wants the paint thinned and bumped up the air pressure. My Stepdaughter bought me a set of Golden airbrush paints for general non military modeling. They spray well, but when they clog...

The rear assembly needed some trimming to butt up against the hull sides, but it's on with the first bit of PE. I've also put a few links of the track together. It is the next step.

Actually the instructions show just the inner wheels on, until the tracks are built. Then it shows adding the outer wheels. So evidently what they are telling you to do is glue the inner wheels on the shaft, you know, without telling you. I don't know. I'm going to do it my way. It would bother...

I saw Andy's videos and no, there isn't a mention of that. In the build video he has the inner wheels on with the outer ones off. I wonder if he glued the inner wheel on and just painted them attached? They would still roll because of the hub bearings.
