The Duke's Spaceport Launches the Falcon!

The two Tie fighters I built several years ago and used Testor's paint on still seem to be fine. I have a number of other Bandai kits to build so will have to keep an open eye out for paint problems.

    End of the line.

I have a book on the 109K Turns out it was a development from the 109G10. I found on photo that showed the lower cowling and I could barely see the support you added. I don't think that was a drain tube, I believe it is a support. I built on something a little while back that had wing...

The Duke's Spaceport Launches the Falcon!

For some unknown reason the 72nd scale Bandai and Fine Molds kits are ridiculously expensive now. They are not all that big even in 1/72, but I guess that the royalties that go to Ditzney for SW stuff is also crazy expensive.

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Looks to me that the slides, beds and parts that move are steel with aluminum plates holding it together. I would call it a lightweight unit. Work fine for plastic, wood, and maybe aluminum or brass. I have 3 cars, two which I drive, a Toyota Corolla that is 19 years old and a Sienna van that...

    MFH Abarth 1000-SP 1/12

Looking good Paddy! Also something you can do is take some dark grey and dry brush the edges lightly which can give some highlights. That way it breaks up the solid color a little.

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

I get it Paddy, but years ago I kept running into the wall of "If I had ____ I could do ____" When I was given the chance to obtain all the tooling I have to repair watches, that tooling has ended up being for mostly models though enough work has been done on watches with my mini mill and...

Das Werk SdKfz 251/1 Ausf D in 1/16th scale

Thanks Bob. You have not seen anything like this before. It has all the control linkages for the transmission and engine as well as I have no idea yet what all. This is part of why I want to build the bare chassis first BEFORE I mount the body and armor. I also have the 251/22 yet to build...

Das Werk SdKfz 251/1 Ausf D in 1/16th scale

Making loads of progress and finding pain in the butt assembly instructions drawn/written by an idiot that had no clue what was going on. I am trying to think ahead on things with this, but there are SO MANY PARTS and assemblies that it will be fairly impossible to do so perfectly. For now I am...

    Your forum needs you !!

Bob could set up a paywall for an FTP site where we could share PDF and STL files and such. Make that a yearly sub and only available to those that sub for it. It probably wouldn't be used or needed much and the extra funds could apply to MA site Just a thought. Trying to think outside of...

    Your forum needs you !!

I didn't intend for Bob to set up a pay wall, that was just what that other guy does. I have no problem with assisting with the site bills and making it easier on Bob to keep it going.

    Your forum needs you !!

I subscribe to a guy by the name of "Better Bachelor" on a Rumble site called "Locals". By having it behind a paywall it keeps the trolls out and he makes enough to get by. I pay the subscription fee because there is community there and because he does good news stories about a lot of the crap...

Ryefield Models M1240A1 M-ATV, US MRAP All Terrain Vehicle

Looks like you have come up with some good alternatives to the parts Greg. I have a porcelain tile floor all through my house since I had a water leak several years ago. Have dropped quite a number of parts on the floor in the "Hobby Shop" and found them all (even the TINY PE pieces). After...

Panzer III Ausf J. Das Werks, 1/16 scale.

Just pulled out my kit and looked at it. There are slots where the firewall goes. I would start with a piece of sprue measured and cut so that once placed between the sides they would be straight, then cut a piece of thick sheet to fit in the slots, and maybe have a reinforcement just behind...

Panzer III Ausf J. Das Werks, 1/16 scale.

Are there slots on each side where the firewall at the back of the crew compartment would be located? If so a solid piece of thick styrene set there would help a lot. Also, the upper hull could be tweaked a bit to help pull out the sides. I am still surprised that no one has gone to any effort...

Das Werk 7.5cm Pak 40 in 1/16th scale = FINISHED

Nah! I like big scale kits. 1/200 scale Titanic, 1/48th scale B-36, plenty of 1/32nd scale aircraft and bombers. I like super detailing and the bigger it is, the more super "D" it usually needs and the more I like it.
