    Your Challenge for Today…..

OK challenge for today: The US had a training program called the HAVE DRILL/CONSTANT PEG Training, in which they had several MIG-17 that they painted in US markings. I have attached the only two photos I could find. Any idea if color photos are available? Looks like an interesting build subject

    Academy Magach 7C Gimel

Here is where the Magach 7C sits. The M2 and the loaders FN MAG we’re in my parts bin from an older kit, as was the stretcher set on the rear of the turret basket. The basket is the resin one from Legend (not for this kit, I adapted it). The tow cable is picture hanging wire painted with Tamiya...

    Academy Magach 7C Gimel

So managed to get some paint on the Academy Magach 7C in 1/35. Primed in Black, then used the excellent paint from the Hataka IDF AFV set. Can’t say enough good things about this paint!!! So for this I’m trying something very different, beyond the obvious touch up. Idea is to paint the Legend...

    Academy Magach 7C Gimel

So in my continuing quest of “All things Israeli” I started this 1/35 Academy Magach 7C Gimel. Lower hull is pretty much a repeat of the ancient M60. Unlike more expensive kits like Meng with their exact fit, many of the 7C parts, while really well molded, have a fit that is in-exact at best...

TAKOM Merkava Mk.II - in camo!!!

Wow so I JUST realized I never started a thread on this! I’ve actually been working on this for some time, intending to buil fully OOB…so heeeeere we go! So I chose this very specific model because the IDF did something different and tried some of these in camo! I’ve done a TON of single...

    FINISHED Magach 6B Gal Batash

OK so calling this one done! I used this model to try some new techniques, and one of the last was the MIG Accumulated Sand. Neat product! It is enamel based, and I only gave it about 45 minutes before applying the dust. In retrospect I should have given it a full day, but I still like the...

    FINISHED Magach 6B Gal Batash

Ok so my pics sucked! Finished product looks pretty good though Question about the M2: shouldn’t there be some kind of remote with a power cord/line or n there somewhere?

    FINISHED Magach 6B Gal Batash

Here you can see the kit’s M2. Here I was disappointed, and decided to use the M2 from Academy’s MG set. I had to make a pin using a paper clip in order to get a good mount. I took the time to deepen the barrel jacket holes and drill out the muzzle. Again it came out nice, leaving me to only...

    FINISHED Magach 6B Gal Batash

Working on the machine guns. I bought the Legend FN MAG GPMGs…and was disappointed, as they didn’t really represent a higher level of detail. You can see that in the pics. Note I don’t have the belt in the ammo box, but as you can see it turned out quite well

    FINISHED Magach 6B Gal Batash

Well here she is, ready for paint! The non slip is the AK interactive product, a personal fave. You can also see I had to add some styrene sheet after sanding off the barrel seam. The turret basket is the Legend item for The Meng kit. Took some grinding with a Dremel, but as you can see it fits...
