Yeah, I wouldn't give up either, James. You may be better off going with a more standard paint from Model Master or Tamiya. :zen

IPMS Plastic Surgeons Surgicon 20 Des Moines, Iowa

Yeah, I can't justify a 630 mile round trip just to try and score some kits on the cheap. The gas+hotel if I stayed over night would wipe out any savings and end up costing me. It sounds like a load of fun, but there is no way I can justify it. 15 years ago Jeff would have said "HELL YEAH!"...

That's pretty cool but it also requires buying another 1/32 Mustang so that will go in the "wants" not "needs" category.

Bob, Sprue Brothers sells a conversion: http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/qbt72234.htm Yeah, I know that one is 1/72, but for some reason their 1/48 set says "No Photo Available" :idonno I grabbed one awhile back to do The Flying Undertaker as she was the day Capt. William Shomo shot...

Eduard P-47 *Jugs Over Germany* DONE!

Eduard P-47 *Jugs Over Germany* OK, so I used Alclad primer for the first time and I ain't too happy with the results. It didn't look very smooth and when I sprayed the top coat, I ended up with this grainy mess: I stripped the whole thing and used MM flat black like I normally do so it will...

    Modern Aircraft

I was going to say something along similar lines to what Dave said. The mid-sixties and forward still gives around 40 years worth of aircraft to choose from.

Fixing a gouge in a wing

Thanks again, everyone. It's actually an Academy mold for those who were speculating. I really think that the putty job will work since its such a tiny area. If it doesn't, I will go with the sprue/sand it down method. I really won't know until tomorrow.

Fixing a gouge in a wing

Thanks for the tips, fellas. It's no where near as big as it looks in that photo. it's maybe 1/8 x 1/16 or so. Pretty small. I went ahead and taped it off and used putty to fix it. We'll see tomorrow how it worked. If all else fails, I can use nail polish remover, get the putty out of the and...

Fixing a gouge in a wing

OK, so I'm building the wings for my P-47 and when I go to assemble the left wing I discover this: I have no idea how that happened but it must have been packaged like that. It isn't at an attachment point so I know it wasn't me. It looks like it was hit with a chisel. Is that one of those...
