Ditto what Gary said Paddy! You can do it. I have seen you do amazing things.

Looking For Something Different? 1:1 Scale Shoryo-Uma and Shoryo-Ushi

That is almost as inane as the model kit of the noodles cup.

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

My 1/16th scale armor came in. The box with the SdKfz251/22 is huge with 38 sprues in it, and a number of optional parts, including the track links. The Pak 40 also has some options though it mainly looks to be 3 different types of wheels. @Tim A. I think that Takom is doing the molds...

Turned out quite well Gary! Doing hand painted markings is always a challenge.

1971 Tamiya blast from the past

You did a really good build on this bike even though it had it's issues Paddy. I am sure most folks would flip over it!

    "Easy Pickins"

Steve, you should really take this to Wonderfest in Louisville on May 31 and June 1st. While they have a lot of fantasy type figures, I doubt any would hold up to this build. Also Fine Scale Magazine is always there and they would probably go ape over this.

Going all in on 1/16 scale Armor.

Just got the 1/16th scale Das Werk SdKfz 251D 22 and the box is huge and FULL of sprues. I have the basic 251 and that kit had engine, running gear and everything. The chassis engine and running gear alone look like a full kit then you add the armor and all the other goodies. The box measures...

Reset on the Bismarck diorama - back to square 2

It happens. Kudos to going through the "fix it" procedure. I know that is really going to be a pain, but as they say no pain, no gain. The good part is that the fixing process you will learn something impressive which will end up being a huge benefit.

If you aren't sure if it will fly, add more wings and make them bigger. The rigging on that thing would be a nightmare.

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

I have been wondering how the Takom Hortens compare to the ZM kit. I went to Andy's yesterday and took a look around. I didn't know that Das Werk had put out a 1/16th Pak 40 kit. That is what I was needing for my 1/16th Sdkfz 251/1. I also ordered the 1/16th scale Sdkfz 251/22 with the...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

The Fokker DR.1 was developed because of the Sopwith Triplane. As to the seat belts, I have found that the HGW WW2 belts are quite a bit oversized and won't use them anymore. Yeah the "cloth" and PE bit is a great idea, but they messed up on the sizing.

Here are some links to supply houses where you can get different widths of that tape. It is a polyimide tape. Not cheap, but it is tough and will go a long way. Esslinger Watchmaker supply Protective tapes Jules Borel Watchmaker Supply Protective tapes Not super expensive, but not cheap...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

One thing about it is that it does NOT work around curves. Straight line is fine. That stuff doesn't stretch or give any at all since it is some kind of Mylar. I will be using it on some bracelets to day and will take some photos of the process.

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

That looks like the tape we use to mask off the polished parts of bracelets that need to stay polished when we do a brushed finish on the other parts. It is generally pretty tough though it doesn't stick super well. We also order it in different widths to fit different parts that have to be...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

I got a couple of items in this week. One order has been in La-La Land since mid April. The 2001 kit is actually quite large. Seems I saw a drawing, painting or concept where it was setting on landing gear. I guess I will look around a bit.

1971 Tamiya blast from the past

Most inkjet inks don't have much in the way of opaque pigments. It seems that only the black inks are "mostly" opaque. Looks like you are on to some solutions.

    Me410 A-1

I have a couple of photos of some things I have been working on. Here they are. It's getting there. It needs some heavy weathering yet, antennas added, machine guns (which I will need to make from brass) and some minor paint touch ups.

    Me410 A-1

Just a quick post to let everyone know that this build has made big progress, and is getting really close to the finish line. Paint, decals, landing gear are in place, and weathering and fine detailing are almost done as well. Nothing really to show as those processes are same-o, same-o. I...
