    OH Crap I forgot

My condolences. The couple of Academy models I've build that have reached the decal stage, I always found the decals to be very difficult to work w/, not wanting to stay on the model, regardless of how pristine a gloss coat you've got.

    1/48 A-7E Corsair II

It's an Oral B rechargeable electric toothbrush. I yank the bristles from the heads, and then glue different diameter dowel rod to it, and then using double sided foam tape, put punched circles of sand paper on them. Works great, I have several different heads w/ different grit paper, and...

When I picked up the Tamiya putty last night, I also picked up some Milliput White, but haven't tried it yet. I figured I'd try the Tamiya first, since I didn't have to mix it, and was very happy w/ the results. I've got some figure models I need to do some filling on, that I think I'll try the...

    D-Day

I mentioned to my wife today that it was the 71st anniversary of D-Day, and she said her grandfather was at Normandy, but apparently he was a naval gunner, so he was part of the bombardment instead of making the beach landing.

    1/48 A-7E Corsair II

Finally some pic's to share! So as mentioned, I started out w/ the intake. Intakes suck, haha. Filling the seams is always a pain, but this time it actually wasn't as bad as I was scared it would be. The Tamiya putty worked great on this, I'm very happy w/ the results. So I started by getting...

    D-Day

Definitely a day of reflection, to think what was done both on that day, and many the many days afterwards.

    1/48 A-7E Corsair II

No worries Chris! Still working on the intake for this thing. I have to say I hate jet intakes, cleaning the seams up always suck. However, last night I swung by Hobby Lobby and got a pack of Milliput White, and a tube of Tamiya putty, hoping that one of them will help make this just a bit...

    1/48 A-7E Corsair II

I'm not worried about ordnance, b/c this build won't have any on it. What I was trying to say earlier, was that at no point while the plane was painted in the desert scheme, did it carry any ordnance, so I have no plans on putting any on it.

    1/48 A-7E Corsair II

You're right, I hadn't noticed that 2 & 7 were bare. According to the instruction sheet that comes w/ the kit, stations 1, 2, 7 & 8 can hold MER's w/ 6 Mk 81 or Mk 82 bombs, and stations 3 & 6 can hold 4 Mk 81 or Mk 82 bombs. Don't have any clue if it has the ability to hold all of those at...

1/200 Trumpeter Bismarck with Pontos 27001F1 Yea, a lot of the DS images I've found don't show them loaded down. A lot like this one below. The instruction sheet mentions that it could carry up to 24 500lb bombs, 6 on each wing hardpoint, and then 2 sidewinders on the fuselage mounts, but...

1/200 Trumpeter Bismarck with Pontos 27001F1

Very nice, can't wait to see the progress on this. I'm collecting the bits to super detail a ship model myself, so it'll be nice to watch someone elses progress and use that to help w/ mine.

    1/48 A-7E Corsair II

This specific jet participated in the air operations during Desert Storm, so the markings would be correct. During those operations, it was painted in the regular grey paint scheme. After the end of the war, it was repainted to the desert scheme in the image. When repainted, it also had any...

    1/48 A-7E Corsair II

Yea, the mission markings are correct. What I've been told is that the aircraft arrived on the JFK wearing the standard grey paint scheme, but after the end of the war it was painted this way. It was already known that this was going to be the last combat cruise of the A-7, and VA-72, so it's...

    1/48 A-7E Corsair II

Thanks for the info! I've managed to find several images of this particular a/c, but none w/ ordnance on it, so it might not have ever had any weapons on it while painted this way. According to the info sheet w/ the decals, this a/c wasn't painted w/ this scheme until after it had returned to...

    1/48 A-7E Corsair II

Thanks guys. I've been looking forward to doing this build for several years. I don't know how long I've had the decals for this built, probably at least 7 or 8 years, and several times have almost pulled the trigger on a kit, but finally did it. I've heard/read similar stories Bob, that pilots...

    1/48 A-7E Corsair II

Had this kit show up in the mail today, and couldn't wait to get started on it. Kit is Hasegawa's 1/48 A-7D/E Corsair II. In place of the kit decals, I am going to be using Superscale decals #48-411 "Desert Storm Corsairs", specifically A-7E buno 160552, VA-72 Blue Hawks, stationed on the USS...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Latest Acquisitions Happy Birthday to me! haha. B-day was May 25th, and for the first time in a very long time, I managed to get quite a bit of cash for my b-day (was all I got actually) so I decided to use it to buy models. This is about half the money I got. Waiting to order a bunch more...
