Old Tamiya Universal Carrier MK II

Looking good there James. BEWARE the tracks though as they might be quite tight and break some time AFTER you get them on. Cheers.

It would make for an interesting vignette; especially at a model contest/show. Cheers

Colour of Early WW2 German equipment harness?

I think that the harness used to secure German equipment to regular soldiers in the early years of WW2 was black. Can anyone here confirm that or if that's the wrong colour, tell me the proper colour? Images I see on the web vary depending on who did the colourization. Thanks for useful replies...

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Latest Acquisitions Famous last words eh James? I just say "last kit until the next one". I like how in many of their kits Trumpeter gives a choice of either PE or styrene parts. Sometimes the styrene parts are better because they are round rather than flat. Cheers

Tamiya XF # 4 German Vehicles, 4 Uniforms = Greys?

Hi there fellow model builders. Would someone please tell me what grey Tamiya acrylic XF colours (jars NOT spray cans)were used on early war German UNIFORMS and VEHICLES? Thanks in advance and cheers.

    Tamiya M60A3 reviews?

Thanks James. Scalemates is the first place I look for a review. Seems from what I've been reading elsewhere that Tamiya corrected the turret shape on their M60A3 kit but did NOT correct anything on the lower hull which still dates from the original M1A1 release. Ah well, I'm not looking to...

    Tamiya M60A3 reviews?

I searched here and got zero results for Tamiya M60A3 Reviews. I want to build this for a Gulf War 1991 tank but would like to read a review or more of the kit. Knowing Tamiya I expect that it's their old M60A1 kit with a new gun tube and perhaps some new parts. The kit I'm talking about is...

Colour of viewblock armoured glass on M1 & M2 IFV?

Thanks. I'll just paint mine. Cheers

Colour of viewblock armoured glass on M1 & M2 IFV?

I see in a lot of images that the view block glass on many M1 Abrams and M2 Bradleys appears to be a red colour. Is that just a trick of the light due to the angle of the light hitting the view block glass? Should all the view block glass be painted clear blue? Thanks and cheers

What gun is this? What vehicle is this?

Thanks for the help fellows. According to the Trumpeter kit review on PMMS the halftrack was a 12 ton one not an 8 ton one. So much for using a Tamiya 8 ton one for the conversion. Only 10 of these vehicles were built with the 88mm gun on them and they were all used up by 1943. Cheers

What gun is this? What vehicle is this?

Hi there. I'm thinking about doing conversions to two German vehicles. #1 is a Schwimwagen with either a 2cm 03 a 3.7cm anti-aircraft gun mounted on it. Which gun do you think it is? Is it a 20mm as the caption says or is it a 3.7cm gun? #2 is a German 88 flak gun on a halftrack. Is that...

All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

Remember that sometimes Museum items used by companies as a basis for their kits sometimes have a mix of parts too so that the museum at least has a complete item to display. I think that's often why we see a mix of early and late parts in model kits. Cheers

    Photo Review: Academy's new 35th Scale M163

If they're the same as in other Academy M-113 based kits the answer is no they are NOT workable. I like that Academy gives you a choice of individual links or vinyl tracks. Cheers

    Photo Review: Academy's new 35th Scale M163

What was so disappointing about the Vulcan? Is it because a lot of the parts are the same as the old Tamiya M-113 kits? Cheers

    Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Latest Acquisitions Hi people! My latest acquisitions include a new used computer to replace my dead Toshiba laptop. At least I was able to recover enough info to get back onto this site. I've got some new figures sets including the old Dragon ARVN Rangers. Another set I got for fun is the...
