I can't make a paper printer do what I want....I'll stick to plastic, resin, and whatever else may come as a kit, definitely too stupid to try to 3d print on my own. moving ahead on the Aurora... started with Tamiya basic gray putty, filled all the big gaps, cracks and seams sanded that out...

Weird....I was just looking at Big Plane Kits thinking of getting the 1/72 P-8 Poseidon...you reading minds again??

    1/48 Lockheed CP-140 Aurora

Thanks for the encouragement, it really helps push the build ahead! I made a decision to add some vents to the engines, not true to scale but approximately right(ish) and now the happy (for me anyway) news...she's an assembly; going to need some filler on the roots but for the most...

I do appreciate the "somewhat misplaced" confidence in my modelling. I have in fact managed to fair in the tail feathers. I have also at this time drilled the lower fuselage for the sonobuoy launch tubes, not sure yet weather I'll add tubes to them or just leave the holes and paint them black A...

I’ve begun fitting the “empennage“ this required either sanding the root fairings to an acceptable thickness or increasing the thickness of the horizontal stabilizer about 25% I knew the issue existed earlier and packed the insides of the root fairings with material so I’d be able to sand them...

    1/48 Lockheed CP-140 Aurora

A red letter day, the flight deck added and the fuselage closed up. I've added 2.5 oz's of lead as the support between the cabin floor and gear bay roof work (play?) continues Thanks for looking

I've made some resin copies of the vents from the F-18, sawed them up and fitted them to the CP-140 Thanks for looking

Do it! if I can build them anyone can. it does take patience and some planning to not build one’s self into a corner but the nice thing is that if/when a mistake happens…just sheet plastic over it, putty, sand it back and carry on. oh ya, and have a massive spare parts box(es)

if it doesn't fit grab a bigger hammer... Still plugging away trying to make the model look less like a vac. kit I've used a combination of riveters and scribers on the fuselage half shown here. I'm not going to the top or bottom seam as I expect a variety of mismatches filling sanding will...

I am an auto mechanic. Started out as an AME back in my teens switched to cars for the more reliable work, higher pay and no travelling to fix a busted airplane out in the bush. I’ve been a shop Forman, service advisor and taught automotive service technology at the college here where I live...

You're too kind sir! I've screwed up my courage and cut the windshield pillars and re-profiled to a "better" shaped appearance. The right side has been scribed for panel lines and the left is undergoing that same treatment tonight. The improved left side; and the untouched right side; thanks...

    1/48 Lockheed CP-140 Aurora

Thanks mates! still plugging away, I've added some scribed lines, rivets and clasps (pure fiction) to the engines; and begun opening holes for little round windows, the openings aren't to scale merely to the size of the dome windows (from the spares supply) Thanks for looking

So, almost a full tube, total quantity all in (1/2 tube white- 1/2 tube of gray) the engines are attached and faired in. scribing and rivets should now be added sanding mostly completed, now have a full set of wings; Marking out for scribing riveting the fuselage; work/ play continues...

    1/48 Lockheed CP-140 Aurora

Thanks for the encouragement! The left wing top half had sunken areas between the engines both on the top and on the leading edge, I glued a strip of .010 between the upper and lower halves as a straight edge to fill/ sculpt to. I used Tamiya gray putty here. the straight edge can be seen here...

    1/48 Lockheed CP-140 Aurora

I appreciate the kind words! I'm still puttering away on the wings, both are joined upper and lower now. The left wing is undergoing sanding and filling on the seams while the right wing is getting some knobs added. I cut circles with a compass cutter, cut the circles in half and made the...

    1/48 Lockheed CP-140 Aurora

work has begun on assembly...well one part anyway. I've got one wing underway, gear bay glued in, flap track and, an aileron cut out for a bit of a defection angle. There's a mismatch at the wing tip but I plan on cutting off the wing tip and build the squared off lumpy sensory loaded things...
