Most of you will know i have been struggling with my builds of late. I dont get a lot of satisfaction from Building OTB. I usually try and add something with after market , in the past i used to enjoy the Aires resin engine kits in 1.48 but i kinda feel i have done that now 3D print is ok...

    Franz von Werra's Bf109 E4

Definitely needs revisiting Paul :-) I think if i was to continue with builds in this scale i would need to do exactly what you are doing here and start from scratch and lower my expectations of whats in the box. In recent times i just dont get anything out of building models other than frustration.

In all fairness Paul you basically re engineer your kits :) to put them right which sort of proves my point. I get that for the manufacturer to get the finished thing into production is the main aim so they can start to recoup their outlay but i just think it cost no more to make a part right...

My problem is steve i spent a life time as a production design engineer. People in all professions would come to me with ideas or things that didnt work and my job was to give them a product that did what they wanted. You end up looking at everything from an ease of production, ease of use and...

We get freaky things like that but they are not what you would call a Tornado :) i'm not joking if i said some deck chairs were blown over on the beach. This is how they are reported in the papers :) Local man traumatised by Storm Isha knocking over his wheelie bin A local man has spoken of...

Sure you are right Bob, as i run round the room with the model at arms length it would be nice if the rudder flopped to the left as i banked left :)

Hmmmm.. what can I say ? More than a little disappointed with this kit. Previous Hobby 2000 models I have attempted have been Hasegawa and very nice. This however is Dragon and to be fair its my first Dragon kit.. It’s a very difficult model to build, over complicated and not helped by very poor...

Warning to builders of this kit Here you can see where i have surgically removed the center section wing panel. This panel is fitted in step 3 however you will find it much easier to locate the engine mounts to the wing root in step 18 if you do it before you fit this panel. The answer is to...

36 years as a tool maker paul, i have most of my tools but i dont have access to equipment anymore. Ideally i would have taken a bit of square silver steel as its easier to hold square in a vice. drilled a 1mm hole through about 4mm from the top , intersected with a .5mm hole and hardened it...

So this is where i have got too I managed to drill the holes in line by putting a spring clamp on the rod and using it as a support. with its handles on the table This one is a test run and you can se i missed hole in the middle :-) the problem is i have the spacing wrong but this is a...

So this is the first idea i have had for drilling a 0.5mm hole om a 1mm tube.......remind me why i am even contemplating this ???? This is a basic Dremel with a pin chuck and a 0.5mm drill in a Dremel drill stand. its almost impossible to just drill the hole i want given the crude set up i...

So a bit of success today The general opinion on-line is to try and narrow the fuselage but i have gone a different route by removing nearly 1mm from everything the gun platform sits on, which is 3 pieces including the fuel tank the front firewall and the underside of the platform its self...

No Bob, its more serious than just the box, I have removed a lot of plastic already but it means re positioning the instrument panel which then fouls other parts but i think i am getting there, Will update later when i find the wind shield no longer fits :)
