I do not know why, but finding on the modeling market a decent model of one of aviation icons - the famous Polikarpov Po-2 is almost impossible . On a scale of 1/72 is still based on a model of KP and its more or less successful clones or less-known model of Polish company: ABC Modelfarb . The situation was saved by ICM 's models. Unfortunately, in 1/48 scale only Gavia was released a model of "Kukuruznik". Currently the model (if it appeared) is avalibe on auction sites only, but the prices were sometimes astronomical values. Therefore with great relief I was delighted to read about the plans of AZ Model to release series of Po-2 models in 1/48 scale.
Copying or borrowing forms among manufacturers lately has become a occurrence quite common, it is not surprising that basis in this case is "old" Gavia model. I did not have the "progenitor" in hand thus is hard for me to refer to the quantity and quality of changes / enhancements introduced by AZ Model (which indicates slogan on the box).
------------------------------------
The reverse side of the box serves as manual painting, colors are indicated by Humbrol.
Instruction is a one A4 size sheet printed on both sides. Despite the small amount of available space and due to the small number of parts the assembly process is presented in a simply and clearly arranged.
Decal is printed clearly and without offsets. The quality of the decal raises a presumption that puting them on the model will be not a problem.
AZ Model adds a small photo etched frame and the plate of the instrument panel.
The model consists four (actually three) of frames containing the casting of beige plastic. Items are cast clean, with no shifts or deficiencies. The quality of the plastic also makes the most positive impression.
AZ Model released the model in several theme, the differences relate practically to the decal sheet and box. Price of model in Poland remains at the level of 90 PLN (~ 27-30$). This is not a low amount, but it is still less than the average price of Gavia model on ebay or allegro. For me, the most vital is that finally I have the opportunity to build Po-2 of North Korea aviation .
