A nice thing about Eduard is that they release the sprues from their kits separately without instructions, decals, PE, masks, or other aftermarket. This is great when the decal options don't have what one wants or if the sheet from their profi-pack has a second option one wants. The box is plain and very nondescript. See URL links for the instructions in PDF format.
An interesting thing about this release is that, other than the sprue with the fuselage sides, the rest are common and include all options!
this is Sprue Tree A with all options for the canopies, lights, camera lens, and gun sights.
This sprue is rather strange. There is another sprue tree (B) where the fuselage halves are tooled to accept the various tail fins but this one, Sprue Tree C, is specific to the P-51D-5 without the dorsal fin extensions. Yet, look closely, all the extended vertical fin options are there! Sprue Tree D, not included, will ne for the F-6D.
The surface detail is incredible and Eduard went to great lengths to incorporate as much of the detail from their 48th scale kit into this on.
Sprue Tree E has internal details such as an incredible wheel well details (main and tail), but options for various side panels, instrument panels, instrument coamings, seats, radios, spinners, and exhausts. however, unlike their 1/48th scale kits, the latter are molded solid and either need to be drilled out or replaced with aftermarket.
Aside from the big hint of a camera lens cover on Sprue Tree A, we see the bottom camera bay protruction (see below left spinner ring):
Sprue Tree F not only has all the weapons & propeller options, it has some details specific to future releases.
