Panzer Wrecks 12

I just received a the new Panzerwrecks 12 by Lee Archer and William Auerbach, courtesy of Mr Auerbach. This is the first one I have seen although I have been aware of them for a while now. After looking through I'll definitely start collecting the whole series.

------------------------------------

First the nitty gritty. The book is soft cover and 97 pages long.  I have not counted them, but according to the back cover there are 134 rare and unpublished photos. The book is broken down into 5 sections:
Self Destruct; Story of a Jagdtiger
'Sarge' Bealko shoots a Tiger II
Old Timers at Schmalnau
'Disc' Panther at Parroy
Panzer IV/70(V) Inside and out
Most of the photos are full page and high enough definition that you can see even minuscule details. Even though they are wrecks the photos show gear attached as per a living vehicle. Added to that for diorama makers, the scenery and signage captured will provide tons of inspiration. Even figure modelers will find something of interest with front line troops, rear echelon troops, and even some civilians.
While the first section is about a Jagdtiger there are a number of other vehicles shown including  a Panther, a Stug,  and a Jagdpanther to name a few. There is one colour pic and its exceptional showing the "Octopus" scheme. One very cool subject that I had never even heard of before is a captured M8 armoured car with a M.G 151/15 turret. Its giving me ideas now. And throughout there are many more vehicles to provide inspiration or visual info for your builds.
Overall this is an excellent book and a welcome introduction for me to the series. If there is any  downside to the book it would have to be the weeping of my wallet and groaning of the book shelf  as they contemplates getting 11 stablemates.
My thanks to Mr Auerbach for this copy.
