Orange Hobby, Armoured Skirts for StuG IV

Orange Hobby “Red Series” Armoured skirts for Stug IV (item no; G35-043-98), for Dragon smart kit 6520.
The update set consists of 3 PE frets, 30 tiny bolts and instructions.

The PE frets
PE fret C, contains parts for the middle side armoured plates and the brackets.

PE fret D, contains parts for the front and rear armoured plates and the frame for the bracket system.

------------------------------------

PE fret E, holds more parts for the middle armoured plates and the mounts for the schuerzen. An extra bonus are the etched Balkenkreuz and vehicle number masks.

The first thing I noticed on the PE frets were the etched fold lines, they do not extend over the whole length or width of the part but start and stop just short of the edge, giving the fold more strenght.

The instructions

The instructions are very clear and come with a 1:1 scale drawing to help you with placing the hooks on the fenders at the right place.
I noticed one error in the instructions; on page 2, part C6 should be part C16.

The bolts

The tiny brass bolts not only look great and true to scale but also help strengthen the whole construction. I drilled out the holes for the bolts to make placing the bolts during construction a bit easier.
During the partial construction for this review, and after a good look at the instructions, I must conclude that the 30 bolds which come with this set should be 40. So in my opinion the set comes with 10 bolds short!
I contacted Orange Hobby about this and I will let you know about the response.

Construction
One of the brackets compared with the Dragon part.

The frame under construction with one of the schuerzen

The PE hooks attached to the fenders

The frame dry fitted to the StuG

Conclusion
With this PE set, Orange Hobby is setting a new standard for PE. The smart engineering of the kit makes it look realistic but also results in a stronger construction.
Highly Recommended
Many thanks to Anson of Orange Hobby for the review sample.

Anson of Orange Hobby, contacted me telling me they checked the amount of bolds needed for this update set and they concluded also that the kit indeed needs 40 bolds.

Orange Hobby apologized for this mistake and kindly offered me to send me the missing bolds!

Thanks to Orange Hobby for the great service!
