Nuts and Bolts Number 30

Today I would like to review a fantastic book, Nuts and Bolts Number 30, Nebel-, Panzer- und Vielfachwerfer.

The newest gem from the Nuts and Bolts Team is a hefty tome of 209 pages. Now I first laid eyes on a Nuts and Bolts book when a friend told me I needed Vol 10 on the RSO to complete an ambitious Aber induced project. I bought it and have bought every volume since. I have never been disappointed. These books have pretty well everything in them.

------------------------------------

Nuts and Bolts Vol. 30 covers the Field Rocket (my interpretation) equipment used by Germany in WWII. I did not realize there were so many different pieces of equipment out there. From Manpac to towed, from hung off a vehicle to specially built vehicles, it is incredible. I even saw one that I at first glance assumed was a Canadian Land Mattress.
The book is chock full of period pictures and museum examples.

Every thing a modeler would need to build a detailed model of their chosen subject. There is a concise history of each weapon and all of the pictures are well captioned. The book is written and captioned in English and German.

A number of 3 view drawings on each piece captures the detail. The colour plates are beautifully rendered. Of particular interest, at least to me are the colour plates and museum pictures of the munitions. It is usually difficult to find the proper info when building a model.
One of the things I love about the Nuts and Bolts books is the work of Tony Greenland. I have been in awe of his work for years now. If he cant find a model of a subject he scratch builds it and it is inspirational when I go to build to see how he has done it.

In this issue Vinnie Brannigan also presents a model, the Lion Roar 21cm Nebelwurfer. For sure I will pull my kits out now and give them another go.
This is another hit for the Nuts and Bolts Team. With 391 photos (250 historic, 28 model, 113 modern), 24 blueprint,s and 19 camouflage schemes, tactical markings, table of organization (Info from their web page). This book will appeal to the historian and the modeller. There are so many ideas for building and scratch building, you will be kept merrily modeling for a long time.
I bought my book from the publisher http://nuts-bolts.de/ for 28.90€ but they are available all over. Sprue Brothers carries the line http://store.spruebrothers.com/category_s/2222.htm
These books are well worth the money and if you need a reference then this would be the first book I would recommend.
