Bronco's new Loyd Carrier No.2 Mk II in 1/35.

From Wikipedia: " The Loyd Carrier was one of a number of small tracked vehicles used by the British and Commonwealth forces in the Second World War to transport equipment and men about the battlefield. Alongside the Bren, Scout and Machine Gun Carriers, they also moved infantry support weapons."
Based around a the engine, gearbox and transmission of a 15 cwt 4x2 Fordson 7V truck, the Loyd Carrier No.2 is similar yet distinctly different than the Universal Carrier Mk I and Mk II. Used a a scout vehicle and troop transport it was more commonly used to tow infantry support weapons such as the six pounder anti tank and 4.2 inch Mortar. In Canadian use the Universal Carriers, T-16 and Windsor were more commonly utilized. Among the variants there was a slave vehicle used to charge up, and start tanks, a cable layer, and some AA vehicles. One interesting note is that the radiator was mounted on the rear of the vehicle so I imagine air flow must have been an issue, especially with dust thrown up around it.
The Bronco kit is full of very fine detail and crisp moldings. It has link and length tracks which should be interesting to assemble. Like the Universal Carriers Mk I and II they released earlier this is not for a beginner, but will build up to a very nice model. I believe this is the first time it has been released in plastic in 1/35 scale. Molded in tan plastic it looks blemish free and has no discernible flash. There is one sheet of Photo Etched metal which seems quite thin. I'm looking forward to seeing how this is to work with. Also included are some springs for the suspension and some thread for a cable. One sprue has some basic infantry weapons that look pretty good. No figures come with this kit. Also included is a soft plastic wheel for a 6 pounder. I am going to mate mine up with the AFV 6 pounder although there are more choices for weapons as 3 were released last year. I wonder if a 4.2" mortar will follow.

As usual there is a very nice print of the box top without the writing.

The instructions are printed on a glossy paper in booklet form with very fine schematics that should leave no problems with construction. There are 7 markings given which look very interesting. The colours should be SCC1 SCC2 and SCC3 I believe. This website should be of great use when painting. I think it should be of great interest to our friends from the Netherlands as 3 of the 7 markings are Netherlands units while 2 more are units fighting in the Netherlands.

In the next photo you can see some discolored squares at the top left of the page. These are stickers with I believe corrections to the original instructions. How cool is that?
