AMK 88001 Kfir C2/C7

/gallery/albums/userpics/10065/AMK88001KfirC2C7.JPG
AMK is a brand new company from Macau. Reading about them on Facebook, I decided to take a chance as see what their first release is like. I often try to find new companies to help them gain exposure especially when their subject is already a new release with a competitor (Kinetic Models released the same variant of the Kfir earlier this year). So, let's open the box...

------------------------------------

Inside the box, we find many sprues, all meticulously wrapped in re-sealable cellophane envelopes, a decal sheet, and instructions printed on high quality paper with color painting guides.
The pieces are finely molded with only one exhibiting flash, restrained pin marks, and nicely inscribed panel lines. Engineering is a touch complicated as several variants are to be catered for and the sprues follow the mix and match type based on the variant.

Sprue A are the fuselage sides and one will not that a multi-part mold was used to ensure nicely engraved details around the curves of the body. Some cockpit sidewall detail is molded without any sink marks on the outside which can occur.

Technically, not a sprue but the lower wings with the middle section of the fuselage.
/gallery/albums/userpics/10065/AMK8801KfirCfront.JPG
/gallery/albums/userpics/10065/AMK8801KfirCrerar.JPG
Sprue C contains the wheel well walls, main landing gear covers, centerline fuel tank, and other details which are not repeated or are handed.
/gallery/albums/userpics/10065/AMK8801KfirDfront.JPG
/gallery/albums/userpics/10065/AMK8801KfirDrear.JPG
The upper wings, canards, nose cone, laser designator, and other details on found on Sprue D.
/gallery/albums/userpics/10065/AMK8801KfirE.JPG
The first of the duplicated sprues, E, contains the exhaust halves, pylons, and other details on two sprues.
/gallery/albums/userpics/10065/AMK8801KfirF.JPG
The pylon mounted wing fuel tanks are found on both sprues marked F. Note that there is an option of tail fins of which one exhibited the only flash found in the kit.

Two different ejection seats are included in the kit based on the variant the modeler chooses. For the C2, a Martin Baker JM6 is provided on Sprue G. If building thr C7, a Mk. IN10LH ejection seat can be found on Sprue H.

Clear parts are found on Sprue J. Note that the landing lamps are slide molded for engraved details.
/gallery/albums/userpics/10065/AMK8801KfirV.JPG
Laser Guided Bombs Griffin (in middle) and GBU-12 (at edge are found on Sprues V.
/gallery/albums/userpics/10065/AMK8801KfirX.JPG
Python 3 air to air missiles are found on Sprues X.
/gallery/albums/userpics/10065/AMK8801KfirY.JPG
Sprues Y contain the Mk 82 bombs and Triple Ejector Racks (TER).
/gallery/albums/userpics/10065/AMK8801KfirzDetailzDecals.JPG
The decals offer markings for two Kfir. Strangely, they are marked 2nd and 33rd schemes.
  1. Kfir C2 #874 of The First Fighters Squadron in 1979. What makes this one interesting is that it is the only Kfir with an air to air kill, a Syrian MiG-21.
  2. Kfir C7 #555 of The Arava Guardians Squadron in 1990.
Instructions cover assembly in twenty steps of the 23 depending onthe version one selects. They are printed on sixteen pages of glossy paper with full color painting and decal guides. No parts map is provided. Options include the C2or C&, open or closed canopy, and ordnance including the Napgach multiple ejector rack.
The following 14 detail photographs show the panel lines, shapes, sidewall details, and more.

The tires do not have any raised details but are separate for ease of painting.

Checking photographs, it appears the raised areas inside the exhaust tube are there on the real thing.

Here, we see the only flash found, on part F8 of the subsonic fuel tank.

Above we see the Griffin and below the GBU-12.
