AFV Club continues to release track sets for various Sherman vehicles. This set is for the standard chassis such as opposed to the earlier set which was released for the long chassis such as the M4A4 or M4A6 based Sherman tanks.
The blister package can be seen in photo 1. This packaging is attractive as it allows the modeler to see what he or she is buying even if they do not know the proper nomenclature for the track. Also, the cardboard header clearly means that one may find this set hanging from a pegboard at the local hobby shop.
------------------------------------
After removing a staple and sliding off the cardboard backing, the tracks are ready to use. These must be glued with an instant type of cement.
The T62 tracks are studded and are seen on many Commonwealth vehicles. See above. The details are sharp and match the TM photo.
They are a touch stiff and the photo above shows that there is a very light seam in the plastic which will not be visible under paint. Keep in mind that Sherman tracks are live and do not need the sag characteristic to dead tracks such as those used by the Germans and Russians.
It can be used on any Sherman kit from Academy, AFV Club, Dragon, Italeri, Tamiya, or Tasca. The size is very good and trying them to several drive sprockets show that they fit Academy, AFV Club, Dragon, Italeri, and Tamiya.
It is a nice replacement set with good details and eliminates the hassle some modelers feel with link to link live tracks. Thanks to Merit International, AFV Club’s US distributor, for the review sample.
