AFV Club has released the second subject of their Q Series: the Mirage 2000.  This series include simple kits using humorous shapes similar to the Hasegawa Egg Planes.  My son and I had a great time with the first release so when he saw this in the package, he snatched it!

Note the look in his eyes and the pristine condition of the box.  Compare it to the lower edge of the box in the first photograph, he didn't want to let me have it!

The rear of the box serves as a painting guide.

Front side of the only gray sprue.  Note the loose section of sprue which was cut off at the factory, to make the kit fit the box, but included anyway... why?

The canopy and decals.  Decals are included for France, India, and Singapore.  They are based on real markings and well printed.

About ten minutes later after my son snipped off the peices and used non-toxic modeling glue.

Since I planned to hang the completed model off the ceiling in my son's room, I asked him to glue the doors shut.  While they fit the openings, it is obvious they were not designed to be built 'in flight.'

Lots of sanding will be necessary after filling some gaps.  Kids would not really care but I am not a kid!  by the way, the exhaust is only placed in the images as it was used to ensure alignment of the fuselage pieces.  It has since been removed and painted with Testors ModelMaster metalizer.
When my son returns from Summer vacation, we will paint the model and hang it in his room.  It was an enjoyable project.
