A few days ago I started another vignette. This one is titled, "Young Entrepreneurs" and depicts some enterprising young Vietnamese kids selling some watches, sunglasses, and mirrors to some GIs. I wanted to make a quick one to add to those items I am going to display at ModelFiesta in San Antonio, Texas on February 17 and I already had the figures built and primed as they were intended for a past project and were never used. Included in the vignette will be a wedgie of a M113 to give the scene a backdrop and context. I used the Italeri ACAV kit for the section of the M113. Since it is depicting a section of a gas powered M113, I made the headlight guards out of wire instead of using the kit guards which were for a M113A1. I filled/blocked off the open sections with sheet styrene. For tracks I am using the new workable tracks from AFV Club which came out at the same time as their new ACAV kit which is a very good kit of a M113. Since I did not want to cut up a pricey AFV Club kit, I went with the Italeri kit since it was sufficient enough for what I wanted to do with it. Besides adding the wire headlight guards, I also drilled holes where the bolts would go if the vehicle had the things on the sides covering the top part of the tracks would have gone.
