Sherman III DV, landing from the LST

Hey Guys,

Gues I should have saved this one for the 'Snapshots in time' GB, but I got too far before I remembered. Oh well:pinch:

After building the DML Sherman III I thought I'd give the Tasca Sherman III DV a go :)

Although the DML kit wasn't bad, the tasca kit has proven to be an infitely more enjoyable experience

I'm aiming to more or less replicate this picture from the IWM archives as featured in Dennis Oliver's Concord title 'British and Commonwealth Armour in Sicily and Italy'

This is a HQ Sqn Sherman III DV of the 4th County of London Yeomanry landing in Sicily:

The tasca kit is a dream and fell together in record time thanks to perfect engineering and that indefinable 'enjoyment' factor only Tasca and Tamiya seem to be able to give their kits. Don't get me wrong, DML, Italeri, Trumpeter and others make kits that are enjoyable to build, I just find Tasca and Tamiya make it that bit more fun:laugh:

Anyway, with basic construction being so hassle free, I had plenty of energy for scratching the wading stack and various stowage needed to replicate the picture

Then I went a bit mental and decided scratching the bows of the LST would be a good idea:unsure:

So this is where I'm up to now:

Loads more to do yet

More soon and thanks for looking!

Chris:)

cool project chris! this will be epic!

you want me to move it to snapshots? would be no problem - snapshots is not time limited!

CHRIS,

WoW ! Great Job so far. I really Like the Camo on this !! It's different & something I don't see everyday. I'm looking forward to how this turns out.

Thanks guys

Don't worry Laura. As I read the rules the build is way past the point where it could be included. Don't worry, building from photos has fast become my preferred way to build so another will be along soon. (I have another dieppe churchill to do before long ;) )

Some quick updates on this: I've been modifying figures:

especially happy with the pose on this one which was a combination of the base figure's pose and happy accident:

I've also been working on the weathering using oils:
