QLR conversion on CWT

Hi all,

Kitbashing fun !
This is a conversion set, radio version QLR for the famous Bedford QL series.
While I have no Bedford in my stash, but two Chevrolet CWT's, decided to join them together.
I don't know if this was ever done, but those ww2 mechanics were real wizards in the field.
It is possible.
Besides, who cares ? I'm free to do what I like.

This is the conversion set, with loads of resin and PE.

Lots of work to do !
First lengthen the chassis, to fit the cabin.
And of course the exhaust pipe and the drive axle.

I'm curious myself hoe this will turn out.

Thanks for looking,

Willem

Hi all,

Steady as she goes.
Keep on dry-fit and dry fit. Forget the build order from the manual, you are on your own...

I ever did a all-resin vehicle and swore to never do it again.
Well I guessed just a conversion would be far easier, NOT !!
Will be my last too.

Thanks for passing by, and thanks to you Bob,

Why are you hating on the Resin, looks great from here

Never fits, hard to handle the warping, breaks very fast, superglue is hard to correct, etc.
Only good thing is the fine detailing, but these days plastic is almost equally good.

Resin is ok for figures and accesories, larger vehicles: NONO imo.

Just my 2 cents.

Willem

We we sure can't tell you've had problems with it.

I think like with kits, you have good, bad and in between products. I've certainly seen unbuildable resin, cockpit for a B58 Hustler, and the other end of that, the resin aircraft I'm doing right now are out of this world.

Watching with interest ..... Willem ...... Your doing a fine job ..... I hope the B-58 set wasn't a Lone Star Models set ...... :eek:ldguy .... and trip .... 7's also ..... :soldier

Keep at it Willem! (y)

Resin can be in Dutch;K.U.T....ofcourse that stands for Kansloos Uitgesproken Teleurstellend. ;)

(naah,I will not translate that) :rotf

Don't worry, friends, I will finish it for sure.
It's just that it takes a lot of time and (unnecessary) effort to get it right.

Btw, did I mention the price of this conversion ?
70 Euro (about 80-90 dollar at that time) :eek:hmy:
You woukld expect a perfect kit for that money, right ?
Well, I got it from another modeler for a lousy 15 euro, but still...

No it was not, in fact I was waiting on that set but never saw it come to market.
