Dog purist like the AKC have tried to breed it out. At least two of the original 33 pups sired by the first male GSD were brindle. It is a mutation of one of the sables. Ryker’s litter had one other brindle along with two fawn colored pups. The rest of the litter had bridle socks. Mom’s second litter threw no brindles. And just to be sure, the breeder paternity tested all of the pups.
