Is the Ascender the same scale ? I had pictured it as larger bird .

Christian, they are both 1/48 scale. The Ascender is larger as to wing, but had a 1200 hp Allison where the Shinden engine was 2000 hp.

Hey, I don't put floats on everything! :D

Besides, I think the rear prop would get in the way of take-offs!! :rotf
 
that is a neat build Sir! The Wiki page on this says that the prototype that mad several flights had a tendency to yaw due to the powerful engine. I am betting that the yaw along with the very tall landing gear made this plane a tuff-1 to get off & back on in one piece!
