Ardennes Tank Riders...Finished 04/04/14

Re: 1/16 Ardennes Tank Riders...Update 3/2/13 Primer!!

While this level of work is certainly beyond me, I can give a suggestion for the paint. I use Silly Putty to establish a had edge pattern. It adheres well, can be formed easily to any shape, and comes off cleanly without damaging parts.

Thanks G!

I have used silly putty before, it does work pretty good too. But I think I'll try the airbrush/paintbrush
method...hopefully it will go quicker 'cuz I got a deadline.

Looking GOOOOD,Tom! (y)
The kind of work you did on the Tiger is really impressive, and I always liked the ambush scheme.

Nice touch in having two shades of color on the paratroopers jackets.

Thank you all for the kind comments!

It is quite colorful, eh Ron.

The guy with the MG, well half an MG (MG21?) will have a blurred edge camo, the other guy will have splinter pattern.

Thanks again,

Tom

That's just logical...the half of MG 42 = MG 21.... :D ;)

Re: Ardennes Tank Riders...Update 4/1/13...Figures!!

Well, I really didn't want to do it, but felt I had no choice. The original paint job came out
rough, dusty and grainy. I was rushing, paint was too thick, air pressure too high and I was really
out of practice with the airbrush.

So....I stripped and repainted. I'm happier with this, not 100% though, but I have to keep moving.
I changed from the original ambush scheme to a soft edge camo. As I understand it these were primer red,
the blotches of dark yellow and dark green were sprayed on. I started with dark yellow, so it was
kinda tricky to make it look like the primer was the base coat.

Anyways, here's some pics...

It looks like you've perfected the whole paint in the mouth and blow thru a straw thing. (y)

Thanks Ron!

The Fallschirmjagers have snuck off to the local "strip joint"...sorry, don't know how to
say it in German.

I'll attempt an ambush scheme again some day, probably a 1/35 scale King Tiger.
