1/700 scale Shrimp/Fishing Boat kit.

I consulted Eric at Reynolds Materials. We had some of the same ideas. I'll confess to rushing the mold, and trying to pressurize 2 at one time. I thought about casting the 2nd mold again to see if it was a mix/ratio or temperature snafu. Eric thought using a little less red activator would increase the viscosity of the RTV mold compound, allowing offending air bubbles more time to escape as well. (My scale could be a little less than precise) He's a molding/casting Jedi!

Try, try again! This whole model kit making process is very educational! :bang head

I enjoy the dickens out of it!! :yipee

Thanks for looking in!!

Yup. The castings "mirror" the mold. I thought I might cast the 2nd mold inside to see if temperature had anything to do with it.

Not so recent inspiration has "Surfaced"! Aoshima Balao class sub, with a Trawler for support!
Not really an "In Another World" subject. Just for the FUN of it!

I have access to a laser printer and I KNOW HOW TO USE IT!
Every customer that bought a Shrimp Boat set will get shiny new decals to play with.
Some I saw in Darien GA, some I just plain made up for the fun of it!

Thanks for tolerating my never-ending Shrimp boat affliction!
:rotf :yipee :rotf :bat

I have a customer that is working on a port diorama for commercial fishing boats. I cast the 2017 Shrimper 2.0 mold the other day.
You can see this mold is a might long in the tooth. The mold for the 110' freezer trawler has begun to fracture.

There may well be an improved tooling of TLAR Model's first kit when the 1/350 Reliance class cutter kit is finished.
Thanks, Steven, for all the fun!

This is where Bubba's Momma lives. He's buried theyer tew.
Maybe Jenny's fisheries registration number should be 8675309? :bm:

Yeah, so I had to change the decal sheet! Jenny's reggie number is the traditional one.
I used the same font Forrest may have used to paint "the most beautiful name in the whole world" on his boat.
