Does anybody own one of these? If so, do they recommend? Is there a specific model or specific features to look for?

    1/48 Stearman PT-17/N2S

I'm building this for a Bill Koster Memorial GB on another site. Apparently the concept of 'Group Build' means different things to different folks because when the GB was opened for participation every joiner but me posted photos of models they had built weeks, months, years, and even decades in...

    A supposedly fun thing,

that I will never do again (with apologies to David Foster Wallace). My wife gave me this for Christmas 2014. I'm a big motorsports fan, but I don't have any partcular interest in Nascar. However, despite accompanying me to several Indy Car races, my wife thinks all auto races are Nascar...

    1955 Lancia D50

1/43 Model Factory Hiro kit. The kit's high parts count, small size, and amazing level of detail make it about the fiddliest model that I have ever tried to build. With the exception of rubber tires and an acetate windshield, the kit is all white metal and photo etch. The first picture is the...

1/72 Halifax B Mk III finished

Revell kit. A nice kit with a decent level of detail, good fit, and reasonably accurate. I added an Eduard zoom set which provides additional detail to the cockpit and forward crew stations. Unfortunately, not much can be seen once the fuselage is closed. In fact, so little of the fuselage...

    R.I.P. Mike Hughes

    Has anyone built this kit?

The subject is outside of my usual range of modeling interests, but I have a soft spot for the Halifax and it looks like a nice kit. I'm wondering if their are any serious construction issues before I try finding one for sale.

    Oeffag Albatros D.III WIP

1/48 Eduard kit. I added ignition wires to the engine (see if you can find them) and replaced the molded on instrument bezels with photo etched ones. I also used an aftermarket seat and replaced the molded on throttle assembly with photoetch. I took some criticism of my simulated wood grain at...

    1977 Penske PC4

1/43 Formula Models kit. The model represents the car driven by Danny Ongais in the 1977 US and Canadian GPs. I added ignition wires, fuel lines, throttle linkage, brake lines, and coolant hoses.

    1/144 Tu-16

Trumpeter kit. I added photo etched seat belts and shoulder harnesses (the kit has a detailed cockpit and bombardier and navigator stations), fabricated new control columns and yokes to replace the lumpy kit parts, and replaced the styrene gun barrels with .005 aluminum tubing.
