    Zimmerit tool

Actually the're considerably cheaper than that. The AFV Club tool only does the regular "ridged" pattern, and so is inappropriate for "waffle pattern" - it costs $6.24 + 0.44 shipping to the US. The basic Lion Roar unit is similar and as standard also only does ridged pattern. (12.99 inc...

    Tamiya M-113 Instructions?

Hi Peter, I just had a look at an ACAV kit and you don't really need the instructions for the placement of the antenna guards. If you look closely at the roof plate, at each location you will see a raised square "weld bead" (well that's what it looks like) for the vertical bar/s and to either...

    Painting figures in acrylics?

Personally, I would avoid using Tamiya acrylics for more than base coating your figures because they can be difficult to brush cleanly, but Vallejo's acrylics work exceptionally well for this purpose.

    Fine mesh

Another option is fine woven mesh ribbons which can be found at craft shops. The one I found is about 4cm wide. At the top is wedding veil tulle (top) compared to the ribbon (bottom) The weave of the ribbon is very fine, very square and regular and looks and feels like a polyester type...

    Thank you.. Lucky Model

I just want to give the team at LuckyModel a big Thank You. I just received a shipment of paint from LM. On Friday night, on closer inspection, I found that the cap on one of the jars (Gunze) was quite badly split, though it wasn't leaking. So I logged onto LM and lodged an enquiry, telling...

    Tamiya acrylics exposed

Hi Jase, I just had a look at the MSDS for this stuff. http://www.hichem.com.au/hicheminfo/WEB_MSDS/A34.PDF Scary... It sounds like you need ro wear a MOPP suit to use it.

    Tamiya acrylics exposed

Hi Peter, I don't know if you've read the first post in this thread or if you came in at the end. In the first post, I have a quick guide for the best results when brush painting with Tamiya acrylics. It is a bit fiddly nut it does work. If you are restricted to brush painting, I would...

    Tamiya acrylics exposed

Hi Peter, That is, in fact, typical behaviour of Tamiya acrylics when an insufficiently cured layer of paint is overpainted. You really need to let the first coat cure at least overnight (or longer for gloss paints) before applying the second coat. Some hobby shops here in Australia actually...

    Tamiya acrylics exposed

Panzerfaust wrote: Hi Jase, I'm not a paint technologist, but by my understanding there's no such thing as an "acrylic lacquer thinner" (though Gaianotes markets a lacquer thinner blend formulated for acrylic paint). Tamiya acrylic paints can certainly be dissolved with alcohol, but once...

Opinions on Old 1/35 Tamiya M2 Bradley w Interior?

It's actually quite a decent kit, remembering that it's a mid-80's vintage. The interior provides enough detail out of the box to look reasonable as a "look through the hatches" model. The interior is a little basic, but nowhere near as spartan as the M113. Pawel's article (linked above by...

    Re:Academy M2 Bradley 1335 help please

Re:Academy M2 Bradley 1335 help please Hey Guenther, After looking at both sets of instructions side by side, I noticed that though the parts breakdown and assembly sequence are identical, the part numbers are different. I have scanned and emailed you a copy of the Academy instructions and...

    Re:Academy M2 Bradley 1335 help please

Re:Academy M2 Bradley 1335 help please Hi Guenther, If you are referring to the original M2 (A0) kit (#1335) cloned from the mid 80's Tamiya kit (the one with the interior), then this should work for you, as the kit is identical (except for the tracks): http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10012431...

    Tarnished Copper Color

Dioramix wrote: Don't be too surprised if this is hard to come by. GSI Creos discontinued the acrylics higer than H-100 and this may no longer be available. I can't find any mention of it ora suitable replacement in the Mr Color range on the Mr Hobby site. Another possible option may be to...
