So Kinetic Models is coming out with a model of the F-16XL-2:

This plane was closer to actual adoption that the attached story shows, as Gen-Dyne had gone so far as to pick it's major suppliers for this program. This is a heart-breaker for me, as I worked for the company that was to supply all interior & exterior lighting and instrumentation paneling! With the adoption of the F-15D (which in reality was the right hing to do) it was the beginning of the end of our manufacturing plant.
