    Got to caught up in the wood grain effect to look at the motor yet. Not to worry, that seam isn't glued yet. Bottom is glued. Still lots more going in here before I start painting. You might be able to make out a turnbuckle in there.

    Dude that's totally salvageable. Worse case is strip it and start over. I'd try some wet sanding with high grain paper.

    Looks like something beaded up on the last coat. Maybe another dull coat? Not sure what your question is regarding the overcoat. You want to do like the hairspray method of chipping the wintercoat?
