Chiricahua Apache Warrior Bust

Howdy, All.

It's been a while since I have posted or built anything. With my father passing away and moving my mom to Oklahoma to be closer to me so she can be taken care of, work, and other things, I just haven't had much time to even look at models much less work on them. However, things seem to be slowing down just a bit and the IPMS show in Arlington, TX is this Saturday, so I figured I needed to have one more fairly new item to display. With only a week before the show, I had to find something I could actually complete rather quickly. 1/35th scale figures and dioramas would take too much time and I would not get done in time, so I thought I might try a bust. I recently bought several busts and figures of Native American subjects that represent the various Tribes of Fort Sill. This particular bust is of a Chiricahua Apache Warrior which is made by Amati. I started on this bust on Sunday, 8 August. In these pictures the bust is about 70% complete. I still need to paint the clasp for the neckerchief, redo the hair, and touch up some blemishes.

Chiricahua Apache Warrior Bust (Completed)

Thanks, Guys! Hopefully after the show I will start having more time to look at everyones' work again.

Well, I am calling this bust done. Later when I have time I may work on the hair a bit more, but I am pretty pleased with how he turned out. I applied some satin varnish to his eyes to make them look more natural and then applied a thin coat of the satin varnish to the skin for the same reason. I finished painting and touching things up and mounted him to a base.

This was pretty fun to paint and work on. I have several other busts that I plan on making in the future.
