Something I have never been able to master , from a gun stock to a shovel or hammer. What is you secert or master trick that you are willing to share with I'm sure than more than one modeler?

You came to the right place my friend, just follow the link to our kindly Master Bob Letterman's Step by Step article on how to achieve such a finish.

I have done this and several variations of this technique with questionable results. I think the best one was the prop for the Piper
