Holy Water

I guess I've got my basic Idea...
It will be a well that is part of a church ruin...
That's all I've got so far, but I guess it will work.
normandy_well_1_20100904_1208522896.jpg

Now I have to dig up all the parts out of the kits in the garage.
Just wanted to get the entry date picture in.
Shawn

Ok, well I didn't get it stated when I wanted to with the new job and move, but...
I'm ready now. Here are some shots of some of the stuff I will be using. I will also
be making a scratch built damaged Church and road that the jeep will be parked on.
I can post a picture of some foam core board if you want me to? :D
New Start date:
Well and cross for the courtyard of the damaged Church.
HolywaterWell.jpg

I've got a couple of these commando Jeeps, but it comes with all the parts (or I can find stuff
in my parts box to make this a regular "Chaplains" jeep.

Warrior Figures - Chaplain and GI carrying a Jerry can.

I'll start on these this week.

Thanks M/P,
I've been wanting to do this for a long time. I really like the Normandy Well,
I got to meet Mike Bishop at the IPMS Nationals in Phoenix this past Summer and
have always loved Monroe Perdue's stuff. I won the last (group build well) at a
contest, and was able to enter with that. It was really cool to get this one via
the group for this build. I've had some of the stuff waiting in the wings for the
right diorama idea to come along, and Pow. This one fit just right. This idea seems
to fit right into what I've always wanted to do, kinda a tribute to Chaplains.
Hope it comes out half as good as I'm seeing it in my minds eye. :blink
You know me... It could take a turn for the worst :gogo :silly: But I hope not.
Shawn

Nice idea Shawn , ............ this will be cool .

I used the lures last Sunday and snagged 1 short Striper , I'm looking forward to using them come May , ......... once again thank your Uncle .

Thanks everyone.
Now that I have a little time (and if I could stop playing all those facebook games) :idonno :D
I'd have even more time to model. ;) I would get more done. I'd give up surfing Porn sites, but since I
don't do that, it's something I can't give up. :hmmm :D :D :D
Terry, Glad to be back doing stuff.
Andy, hope to see more from you too.
Erik, No panzers guarding a well?
Cheyenne, glad you could find a use for those lures, Can't wait to see some picture of you saving those pesky stripers from drowning. LOL

Shalom Shawn.
Hopefully I'll get your parcel into the mail on March 1st. All the kits are still there.

Are you going to build the Commando Car as a Commando Car or are you going to leave off some of those Vicker's machine guns?

A Normandy well from which whiskey flows is another out-of-norm idea from you. VBG LOL The Irish cqall whiskey Holy Water. All you need now is some insignia for an Irish regiment.

Seriously, I think your idea will look great.

Cheers from Peter

Peter,
Long time no hear, good to hear you are alive and well.
Shhhhh. No one is suppose to know what the Irish call it.
Hell God created Whiskey, so the Irish wouldn't take over the world.
:D :hmmm :eek:hmy: ;)
Note my name... :eek:hyeah
Thanks,
No the jeep will be just a regular jeep to haul the Chaplain around.
What can I say? Might have to put a barrel of whiskey or flask somewhere in
the dio to liven things up a bit? :blink :idonno
No worries about the package, whenever you get to it...
You have my new address right?

SHAWN,

Oh ! I'm on th build, but I'm hoping th when I go to AMPS that I find th figures that I'm looking for. I'm gonna do - "Th last Drink" Aug '44. I'm gonna put Cyberhobby/Dragon's Wittman's last Tiger coupled with some Pz. Grenadiers at th Well gettin a drink before Wittman takes his fateful last Ride !! It's th figures that are killing Me.

ERIK

Erik, Sounds cool,
What figures are you looking for?
Shawn

I saw a Verlinden set( i shoulda' bought it when I saw it , a guy was sellin' it for $10 ) - Waffen SS ( i think) 2 guys standing. One is drinking from his canteen, th other guy is just hangin' out.. I would like to find some more Grenadiers standing around. A Wittman figure conversing with another NCO grenadier. Kinda posed like Dragon's HJ set. Or th S&T set of HJ figs. but for accuracy They wouldn't have been HJ attached to Wittman's unit. I need to get another set of Dragon's Panzer Aces set.

5 Pz Crew one being Wittman,
5 Grenadiers, one conversing with Wittman.

Some drinking water/filling Their canteens maybe others standing around waiting to move out. Oh ! :blink maybe some Falshrimjager figs ?

Something similar to these scenes, but having the main focus th Well.

ERIK

Erik,
Send me an E-mail at swgehling@hotmail.com
I have the following Dragon sets that might help you.
Falshrimjager (tank riders at rest) came with the King Tiger kit.
German Tank crew 1944/45
Tiger aces (Normandy 1944) Has Whittman and his crew at rest/relaxed
German Infantry (Battle of the Hedgerows 1944) Beat and battered Infantry
(You might want to look at the new Master Box set I just did a review on too.
(Operation Milk Man) the guy drinking from his mess tin would be great for it too.

Update to Normandy Well:

I picked up some Ornate Crosses from “R&J” Products at the Seattle show and some “tahk” 20 liter canisters “Jerry Cans” for Wasser (water) or Holy Water in this case.
Jerrycansandcrosses.jpg

I completed two jeeps (I even managed to smash them a few times transporting them back and forth to and from Fred's place on Friday nights). I had pictures of the build, but somehow the gremlins deleted them off my camera when I was taking pictures at the Seattle Model show (Reads I must have deleted them without saving them to my hard drive) DUH.
Holywaterjeepsfront.jpg

The well is basically built and needs to be worked on a bit. Then painted and have water added.
Holywaterwellfront.jpg

Holywaterwellside.jpg

I blasted out the base at Fred's last Friday night. It is the basic “Dollar Store” picture frame, with everything pulled out. I cut foam core board to fit where the glass was. Removed it and scribed in the brick street. Then added another layer and scribed in the sidewalk. The base for the well will be cut out so that it sets into a recessed area to make it more part of the scene.
This is the basic layout (minus) the figures and I need to pull a few more out of the parts box. The chaplain will need an escort, his driver is carrying the Jerry cans full of holy water back to the jeep to be dispersed to the junior chaplains under his command.

Jeepswellandbaserear.jpg

Jeepswellandbaserearoverhead.jpg

One of the jeeps has a Browning .30cal Machine gun mounted in front of the passengers section. This jeep was provided to keep the Chaplain safe on his hunt for “Holy Water”.
It appears that I won't have room for the Church wall Ruins, but I guess that will have to be another diorama. I might be able to fit some broken stained glass in though, so keep watching.
Hope you enjoy
Shawn

Yup,
I've been slowly plugging away at it... (and breaking it on the 45 minute ride up to my old modeling group every Friday night)... It was way easier when I lived 10 minutes away... LOL.
Seems like no matter how well I pack it up, I manage to slam the breaks on or something and flight test the box somewhere around the truck. LOL
Just keeps me busy.
