    1/16 scale Tiger 1 early.

Building the tracks. I was moving right along until I noticed the ejection pin marks. Oh well, all I have is time 🫡

Here I go down the rabbit hole lalala...read some crews removed the outer front road wheel because it caused problems in mud. The Tiger 1 website says this kit can't be made to show this. What can be missing? I think to myself.

Thanks for the link Paul 👍

Each road wheel is made up of 2 halves, that means a seam that needs sanded. Since there's 48 of them, to speed up the process and save sanding sticks I'm chucking them in the lathe and using sheet sandpaper. I can do all but 8 of them this way. I like to leave a bit of sprue nub because its...

I hear ya. When I decided to make the switch from 1/35 to 1/16 scale for armor builds I put up a 10' x12" shelf across the wall of the workroom. The Tiger is pushing the 12" depth.

The hull is a couple of inches longer at 15 and about an inch wider. Pic of the Tiger and P III turret.

The start. So far everything is fitting together very well. On this kit the idler can be adjusted for track slack. Maybe not as big of an issue on the Tiger model, but it would've been a nice feature to have on the Panzer III kit. I modified the sprocket & idlers so I can take them on and off as...

    It's pretty crazy!

Thanks so much for all this info Ian! Looking over the kit parts. There are three different versions of the mantlet, two different versions of the engine deck and two different versions of the drivers vertical hull plate. I'm assessing the situation...haha.

That's where I'm looking. He compares this kit's details with the decal numbers offered of that real real tank.

Well...nuts. Thanks for the heads up. Just thought the overpainted tactical numbers was interesting, as well as the 502's mammoth insignia.

It sure does. Thank you Saul 🫡👍

I've pretty much narrowed down my build to represent the 113. I've read these first Tigers didn't have the Feifel filters. Anyone got a pic of what the engine deck looked like before them? My scouring through google searches is on going, but after seeing Ian's info on this tank I should go to...

Thanks so much Ian! I don't have the book. This info sure clears things up 👍👌

Thanks for the Link, James...good stuff!👍👍 Reading through it I already have eliminated my build representing #223. As the parts supplied in the kit is not correct for that Tiger.

The "mud Tiger" pic is interesting. This tank has the smoke dischargers with the ones on the left side being coated in mud, if it is mud. Maybe the pic is a WIP on applying the camo? It is missing the mud guard, like in the other pics, but it's also missing the lights that can be seen in the...

Unboxing the kit. The turret of the Tiger compared to the 1/16 Renault FT. Yes, the Tiger was a big tank, but still...what a difference 20 yrs of design can make.

Panzer III Ausf J. Das Werks, 1/16 scale.

Yep! That works better for me anyway.

Panzer III Ausf J. Das Werks, 1/16 scale.

Added the bucket, a 3d print from Black Dog. Also, the grassy dio base I did bothered me so I tossed it. This one is a better look.

Looking at which Tiger to represent. I think the new unit number 113 painted over the faded old numbers on this one as well as the Mammoth insignia from the 502 Heavy Battalion looks interesting. Here is a decal sheet for that tank. I don't believe the paint color shown is right, though? I'll...
